Getting ready in mid May to go on a Mom/Son vacation to Texas in mid May.  We'll be spending a couple nights in San Antonio and then a couple nights in the Austin or surrounding area too.  One day I'll be renting a bike and taking in the Hill Country - will likely follow Kalal's Hill Country bike thread for routes and such.  Anyone had good advice where we might stay in both locations?  Also, if you know of anyone who rents bikes in the Austin or San Antonio area, that would be appreciated as well.  Mom has been to San Antonio a couple times but it will all be new to me.  Any advice much appreciated.

You can probably bunk at the local library branches...under "Periodicals".

Attempted squaters, mother and son, arrested today in Austin trying to bunk near bathroom area.  The mother was complaining vehemently to local authories that she was merely trying to clean up this "dusty dump" and that Southern Living was the only item of value in the building.  Son was seen being dragged to police cruiser while clutching in his teeth the issue of Cycle World wherein the Griso trounces the 9T, Honda CB, and others in test.  No film at 11.

Hello, I just returned from 7 day trip to Texas hill country. 7 buddies with me, we rented bikes from Cowboy Harley in Austin. Very good operation to deal with. I am not sure of any other options in that area to rent bikes from. Check Hillcountrycruising .com they might have a list of rental companys.
We did 1200 miles in 7 days. We stayed in different towns every night, Kerrville, Bandera, San Antonio, Port Aransas, New Braunfells, and Fredricksburg.
I must say that we enjoyed every minute of trip. Beautiful roads and wonderful people in that area.
