Help- ! SERVICE screen on 1200S
« on: April 12, 2015, 01:01:48 PM »
Hey folks-    So, I've had the scary ! Service screen pop up on the bike. Everything seems fine. No other idiot lights. I've looked into the diagnostics on the dash and no active codes.  If i turn the bike off and turn it back on- no !Service warning. Is this just a warning because i never cleared the milkeage "service" interval note when i serviced the bike myself?  Can I trust the onboard dash diagnostics to tell me if there is actually something messed up?

Mine flared up just this afternoon.

Started with a prompt for the code. (36421 for the '08 Sport) accepted it, but the /!\ lit up once under way

Nothing in the ECU menu, but had the following dashboard codes:

Code#.       A.    M.
01.             O.    X
08.             O.    X

I'd stopped for gas, then drove 1/2 block & parked a minute then attempted to re-start when it prompted me for the code.

Tis the season.

When you serviced it did you pre-fill the oil filter? If not that would explain the memorised 08 code. It's oil pressure and will of been triggered by the engine running while the filter filled up with no detectable pressure at the switch. Not sure about 01 and I'm about to get on a plane so I can't check right now.

Look they are memorised faults, clear them in the dash and only worry if they come back.
