A few photos from my Sunday ride
« on: April 12, 2015, 11:21:30 PM »
Taking a break at Mike's Place in Clearville, PA. The Convert is my friend Leo's.

Town Hill overlook on US40 Scenic near Little Orleans, MD.

Toll bridge across the Potomac River at Oldtown, MD/Green Spring, WV.

Wildflowers in a field along Wolf's Gap Rd., near Columbia Furnace, VA.

Almost home - Antietam National Battlefield at dusk.

Left the house at 8 am and got back at 8 pm, only 330 miles. Almost entirely backroads, lots of "flower sniffing". Bike ran perfectly, beautiful weather, barely any traffic - what's not to like?  ;D

Great stuff, Charlie.

The bridge at Oldtown washed away last year, and I'd heard it'd been repaired but not been over it since.

Glad to see it back sooner than I would have thought, tho it looks "more stable" in your pic than I remember it.  ::)

Heard, too, that the toll had gone up from 50 cents to $1.50.  True?

For those who care, see more about the bridge here:

Unfortunately, but necessarily, I spent the day on the "back (point)40."

And, to add to the pain, my brother sent a phone pic every hour during yesterday's grand weather of his day, which, as yours, was riding.

Thanks for the trip report.  Keep stopping to smell -- and photo -- "the roses."   :bow

Bill

IIRC, it was repaired by October/November. Both ends look "new", center seems to be "old". I never paid attention to the toll for cars before, but the sign did say $1.50. Motorcycles and atvs are only 50 cents.

I'll add a few from my Sunday ride. Just a quick shakedown ride, first of the year. About 50 miles along the Wolf River spawning time. Testing new suspension upgrades. Race Tech springs front and rear. Matris preload kit. First impressions are very good. No jarring bouncing off the saddle or front end wandering in mid corner bumps, definite confidence booster. I'll add more to the V7 suspension thread. Had one guy come up to me as I was leaving compliment me on my bike and asked if I built it. I said nope, just "bought it".

Edit: Forgot to mention funniest part of day started when my 3yr old daughter commented on my favorite Rose Farm Moto Guzzi T-Shirt. "Daddy you have a mourning dove on your shirt". I'm like what is she talking about out. My wife starting laughing and then I got it. So much for the illustrioust Italian Air Force Eagle!
