I should not use Motul 10w-60 in the V7 Stone? I can get it for a fairly good price on Amazon prime, with free shipping. It has all the proper ratings for use in the bike, and it has motorcycles on the label.

And it comes in a box that says "Toys"  "Mada in China".

It's synthetic and the right specification - use it.  I do.

That's one of my preferred oils for my hydro, which rumor and the pieces of my oil pump agree is a picky engine.  People here have said they're envious of my oil pressures and temperatures.  The Motul meets the guzzi specs for oil.  Also, the bottle has a handy pouring spout which makes filling less of a chore.

The manual says use any good quality oil that meets the specs, and it sounds like this one does .... Watch out for Amazon Prime, though, these guys are VERY experienced at legally sliding money out of your pocket when you're not expecting it, via the small (microscopic) print ....

I got it from powersport Superstore in Cedar Park, TX. It was 12.00 a liter with free shipping in a 4 liter jug. I could find nothing rated the same any cheaper. It has what looks like a KTM on the label, not an MG.
It is Motul 4T 7100 10W-60. MA2, API SG,SH,SJ,SL,SM,SN. Looks like it covers all the bases. Specifically mentions good to go for Moto Guzzi on the label.

Rodekyll:  How does your use of 10-60 square with the factory service bulletin warning that use of any oil other than synthetic 5/40 will cause immediate ruination of the engine, frame and forks, not to mention the wheels and seat?

I have two hydros and your comment is of considerable interest to me.  You use a heavier oil in a much cooler climate than here in California.

There were a number of bulletins on the subject.  I let Dave Richardson settle it for me.

If it`s not recommended by the factory, I would be worried about damage that will not show up until many miles down the road.

You mean like the driveshaft replacement on the Sport 1100? Factory recommends a new one every 6200 miles...

My manual recommends to use 10W-60, with the MA2, and API SL ratings. I think I am covered for warranty issues.

Motul tends to separate easily leaving a grey sediment like syrup in the bottom of the pan

Lannis, in what way? I just started Prime, so far happy with the experience.

Thanks!

Thanks!

My wife and I have been caught many times over the years by:

"Would you like to apply for our house credit card and get 50% off of your current purchase, as well as discounts and benefits on future purchases?"

It was always tempting, and I did it a couple of times, the last time with USAir.   Fay did it for the last time last year, with "Target".

Our intent was to sign up for the card, get the discount, don't use it again, and cancel it when the time period was up.   I pay my credit card bill every day, on-line; never any carry-over.

They're onto that game, though.   They immediately invoke whatever annual fee applies ... and then go conveniently deaf (both online and phone) when you try to cancel the card after you pay the fee.   It's like the old AOL agreement; easy to sign up with an application in the mail every week; but almost impossible to "get out of it" once you do it.

I now have one local bank-issued credit card and that's all there'll ever be.    Every other card I've ever had has been a loser in one way or the other for me.

Maybe "Amazon Prime" is different.   I'd be shocked, but I hope it works out for you.

Amazon Prime works like a charm. Just watch them trying to sell you stuff you don`t need (it`s basically just more advertising B.S). Nothings really free, so there's the catch.
