Apart from the pointlessness, only the tyre suffered in the making of that video.

Despite the stupidity and waste the saddest thing is that he needs an 'Assistant' to take the weight off the rear wheel to get it rolling. If you're going to do a burnout at least know how to do it! ::)

But I suffered watching this video.

I was really hoping the front brake failed and the rear tire gained traction propelling the rider head on into the garage door..

Sadly it is one of the 'events' at many bike (and car) gatherings.  So much so that tire companies make tires with different color smoke.

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shinko-smoke-bomb-rear-tires

Kinda like drifting contests for cars.  Stupid way to drive a car, but, you make a video, get a million hits on utube, and you make some money.

Couldn't have said it better myself, with the exception of "hoo hah".

But I'm sure they'll claim it that this cultural facet was "exported" to them along with McDonalds ....  :D

Read somewhere that doing big smoky MC burnouts for absolutely no apparent reason started on the IOM during the party that is the  TT . Guess we can blame the Brits for this . Of course , the bikers at the IOM would add a flaming device protruding from their bum while performing this act , just for effect  ;D

Well, anyone who has run the IOM Mountain Course at racing speeds can just relax as far as proving "machismo", I'd say - flaming bums and burning tires are little children's games compared to THAT!

I'm sure he had a great big fan out front of the bike.  I love the 2X4 in front of the wheel.  It's hard to believe a grown man would be proud of such an act.  This is a dumb blonde version of a male.

:+1 ;-T Ditto a hundred times over. What's the point. Even if he has a new tire waiting to be put on this is one senseless act of stupidity.

Why must we always be so critical of things that give other people pleasure?

Just because it's not something we'd enjoy doing doesn't mean that we need to put other people down.   What, do we think we're "better" than them and have to "talk them down"?

Didn't YOU do things like this when you were younger?    These boys aren't going to hurt anyone in public with a few burnouts; why all the grumpy criticism?

Why can't we all just live together without making fun of people who are having fun on their motorcycles?   Aren't we all brothers "under the skin and in the wind?"

+1

These are not young guys and a burnout like that is one of the lamest demonstrations of rider skill or motorcycle ability.  It seems even more pointless on a gentleman's machine like a 60 hp Guzzi cruiser. And honestly, if you need a brick and an assistant to unweight the rear and then post it on Youtube you are just going to embarrass yourself for eternity.
