Sport 1100 Tire suggestions

I'm moving away from Michelin PRs, I'd like to try something with quicker turn-in.

I know Rocker likes the Bridgestone T30, any other ideas? Radial or no?

This bike is not used on track (so far), but is used for sporty cornering and occasional long sport-tours.

Quick turn-in and sporty performance on a Sport 1100 ?  Bridgestone BT-016.

The Bridgestone T30 is nice, but not as quick handling as the sportier Bridgestones.

Why are you moving away from the Michelin Pilot Road?  I found the PR4 to be pretty good on the Nero Corsa.  Really quick turn-in, when new.

That's an interesting observation. I don't recall any of my bikes, ever, having such a change of behavior over the course of a tire's life as my Sport. I sure notice the last run on an old tire to first run on a new one on all of them but the rapid, noticeable degradation from new is singular to the Sport for me.

Maybe oversensitive, maybe I ride it very differently, maybe feed-back is heightened... In any case, I hadn't really thought about it till reading that single line from Rocker.

Of course, every tire's been a sad imitation of the originals. What were those, Michelin Hi Sports? I think I got around 3,500 very, very sticky miles outa them. What a tire!

Dunlop sportmax q2 is always a good choice and will actually last a little while...

Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa also come highly recommended from track buddies for cornering.

Are you running these on a Sport 1100?

The reason I ask is that the spine frame Guzzis are particularly sensitive to tire choice.  What works good on some bikes really suck on a Sport 1100 or V11 Sport.

One that comes to mind is the Dunlop RoadSmart.  They suck on the spine-frames.  Terrible turn-in and general feel.

Michelin TX15/25 is what came on mine.  Pretty good sport tire. 

The Bridgestone BT-014 was better, though, with about the same treadlife.

I lioke the grip, but still feel like the tires "bounce" moore than I'd like-I tend to ride too fast on bumpy roads.

My Sport came with Avon Azzarro-fantastic then. The Storm 1,2 and finally 3 have all been tried and well liked. Dunlops (Roadsmart)sucked on the V11 as did the Michelin PR's(Though not until winter and 5000 miles). The current choice for me is Avon Storm. NO slippage and great mileage. Wet weather has no effect on them. In the winter, a mile or so gets them up to temp and grippy. The replacement has morphed to the Storm Ultra 3D. I doubt your sport will push them like my Benelli does. Q2s on that bike lasted 3500 miles. Avon easily doubled that with no flat spotting. You want pics?

I ran the Avon AV45/46 on my Sport 1100 for about 1500 miles.  Then took them off and installed the Bridgestone BT-014.

The only tire I've run that was worse than the RoadSmart was the AV45/46 !!!

The AV 45/46 had a really round profile and killed turn-in and how the bike felt at full lean.  And, they were kind of scary in the wet.  I was glad to be rid of them.  That's been ten years ago, though, so old information.

Avon Storm not in 18" rear, so that's out. I'll either grab some Bridgestones or get another set of PRs, they weren't bad when I bumped the pressure up quite a bit.

My Sporti came with Dunlops (can't remember the models) and after a couple thousand miles with them, I really didn't care for them at all. Replaced them with Michelin Pilot Road 2's and immediately they were a vast improvement and have continued to be so.

I'm running Conti road attacks. best I've tried. They have a nice triangular profile and makes the bike really flickable and quick steering.

Check the Avon USA site. A 160/60/-18 is listed and what I run on my Spot.

Bridgestone BT-003's but they might make the bike feel a little nervous (which I liked).

Obviously that's at the sport end of what you want. I'd maybe get 4500km.

I seemed to get quicker turn in when I replaced the Metzler Z8 120/70-17 with a Shinko 120/60-17 on the 1100 Sport.

Interesting, did the bike want to sit up a bit in mid corner or under trail braking?

I didn't notice amy difference other than being a little quicker to tip in to the corners. I tend to do a fair bit of trail braking, anyway, but I didn't notice any tendency to sit up. mid corner or otherwise.
