Feedback wanted regarding the server upgrade/repairs.
« on: June 14, 2015, 06:16:09 AM »
I would appreciate your feedback.  I put in a lot of time to get the board updated to the latest technology, speed, security, etc.  Please let me know how it's running on your end.

I like it is faster and I like it that we are not seeing age, I think that is wise as it sort of colors the commenter in my opinion. If someone wants the age they can look at the personals.

I am sure it was a struggle but its good for me.

Yeah, I left the age option on the back-burner. I really didn't think many would notice it. Age just don't matter anymore for people that have one thing in common

Greetings Luap, First off,  THANK YOU!, Seemed a little notchy at first after all your work but now I can really see the difference in speed and page loading.
The new search feature is pretty cool and faster too. Any thoughts as to the gallery portion or is it too soon for that.

Ah, a romantic thought!

I may have said the same thing when I was 45.

Thanks for the site again!

You were right.   I didn't notice it, even though I have a birthday coming up and it was going to toggle to the next year on me ....

If you read enough of someone's posts, you can generally tell pretty close to how old they are anyway ... !   :thumb:

It is faster and cleaner and the new search function is cool.

For awhile the [img] tags weren't coming up when asked for but everything seems fully functional now.  Thanks for all the hard work!

Hey Paul.  The gallery was nice. I do want to put one back on, but the current version is very 'buggy', and not really worth risking breaking all the stuff I already did.  The developer of that app is working to resolve the bugs though. I'm keeping any eye out for the fix.  So, it's on the list.

Running smoothly here the past few days.  There  are a lot of little detail nuisances fixed, speed seems ok, latency minimal and no more alarms from the antivirus.  I'd call it a successful effort.   :thumb:

Now if you could also autosmarten some of the topics . . .

Have you seen the "Swap Meet" board I setup just for this very reason?

Don't believe there is any prohibition on selling , wanting , or giving stuff away on the open forum . Luap , any problem with doing any of those activities ?

I like it! Feels a touch more modern while retaining the old-school thing (if that's possible). I haven't noticed any of the awkward pauses in the last while. If I had one thing to put on a wish-list, it'd be Tapatalk (and I've seen your response to that). But as a now-retired long-time IT guy, I also understand all too well the reasons for saying NO, something I was very good at doing. Great job on the upgrade  :thumb:

It's having a little problem with the text editing -- punctuation and some smileys in some 'foreign' text processors (like WORD, evidently) are mapped to unknown characters.

Also, does the autocorrection have anything to do with the website?  Mine keeps second-guessing what I meant to write.  If I don't go in and manually correct what the computer is insisting that I meant to say, the writing is sometimes gibberish.  I see (based on what I read) that others are having the same problem, but aren't proofreading, so they don't know it.  The autocorrect also argues with me -- I'll change the word back to what I meant, and the autocorrect returns it to IT'S version of my story.  Talk about putting words in my mouth . . .

The punctuation problems are from I think people having copied/pasted something from an outside source, also posting from a smartphone. That's the only way I've really been able to replicate that problem.  As far as auto-correct...That's a browser thing.  I don't have anything on the server doing that.

The Google search does not bring adequate results. The previous search, while a little slow, gave much more relevant results. Otherwise good overall Luap.
