I've been looking around for a dog carrier will fit on the back of my Griso. I already have the luggage rack and the HB saddlebags so it seems like there's a pretty wide and long platform for a good carrier to rest on. I looked on ebay and other spots and found Kuryakyn makes one but it seems a little short.  my dog is 17 inches at the shoulder and their bag is 13 inches high but it has a hole to pop their head out. I also have found one from Sunlite that is taller and is for a bicycle and made out of metal it's also about 60 bucks instead of $130. I might even custom make one but maybe somebody else has one other idea?

We do have a litter on the ground right now. 5 girls. Noisy little creatures. Just at the stage where they open their eyes and will soon be hearing the world. Don't know if my wife has up loaded any recent photos to our website. (Borealbreeze Bernese Mountain Dogs).

Yes that was v.2 and was designed for a full sized lab instead of the nationwide distribution of Muley Dogs (including Angus).

I am lucky, my little buddy is appropriately sized and rides in the tank bag in front of me.  I realize not everybody has a three pound dog (well, technically it is a dog.). 
Definitely bring your dog if you can, They are great travelling conpanions.  Just make sure they are safe and however you secure them on the bike make sure it is not "too" secure.  If something bad happens you want them to be able to separate from the bike and eject.
In my case I have a short lead sewn to the tank bag with just a couple threads.  Strong enough that the dog won't run off but in case of an accident it will definitely break.
Also, make sure the dog has "Doggles".  According to my vet eye injuries for riding (or head out the window) dogs are very frequent. These injuries surprisingly do not come from bugs or foreign objects but come from the dog's own hair and eyelashes flapping against the eyeball creating cuts and lacerations.  These frequently get infected and loss of sight or even the eye can result.
CoCoPuff also has a helmet and leather jacket with spine and kidney armor, but those are really just window dressing to go with the Doggles.


By the way, a helmet makes a great portable doghouse for those occasional comfort stops.

I think I found a winner here.  The Trixie Malta looks like a perfect fit and has hard sides with mesh on top.

That looks like a great bag, so long as your dog is not a chewer.  just run a couple of non bungee straps under the luggage rack to the two handles and yur set to go.  Also easy to take off that way to take it in to the hotel.

Butt if I make a little trip 3600 mile by Griso it would only be $260 in fuel.

Bite the bullet and get the dog.  The money you spend buying and getting a dog home will be the cheapest part of the dog owner experience anyway.

Here's a possibility that I saw on the road in town yesterday. It seems like the most flexible solution for dogs of all sizes and the occasional kid or grandkid. In this case, the dog had a harness with some mobility but no apparent ability to leave the chair. And the goggles seemed to be working just fine. In the course of three blocks of slowish traffic, I wasn't alone in taking pictures.

I have one hack and thought about setting up another one for my dog. But after thinking about it, I decided it wasn't very practical. For one thing, unless the tub had a secure cover, I'd be worried about leaving the dog in it while going in for a meal, or even into a store for more than a few minutes--you just don't know what people might do. And here in New Mexico, you'd run the risk of overheating unless the cover allowed for a lot of ventilation. The bigger questions though are where would I be taking the dog and would it be worth building a rig just for that purpose?

 Interesting... dogs riding on bikes....certainly less distracting than drivers in cars with dogs in their lap... Dogs have been conditioned by humans to for 10,000 years to be what they are, obedient servants who will take a bullet for their master...So in return human think dogs are enjoying the ride....My opinion that means nothing...
