Eldorado 16" front wheel vs Cali Tour/Custom 18".....

What do you think the difference between ride and handling will be between the Eldorado front wheel and the others? I've gotten one negative opinion re Eldorado front wheel diameter and width and its effect on handling,
I am looking for something to ride the Blue Ridge parkway and lots of blue highways.....
Thanks for the input !

The question is really more about general handling and ride vs tire size and not at all about style. My current ride, a Street Triple R, has 17 " front and back and boy does it handle.

Saw an eldo 1400 today. Guzzi used offset triple clamps (the forks are not parallel to the steering stem). This keeps proper trail with the smaller tire. Early roadtests say new eldo handles much better than custom/touring.

I've ridden the Eldo. I thought it handled every bit as well as it's brethren, if not better. I didn't put it through any challenges, but damn it's a sweet ride. I really love it.

My suspision is the EDLO will be the best all around bike in that lineup. The 16in wheels will allow taller tires, which means more rubber, which means better road absortbtion. Also the rear tire is narrower, so it should feel more nimble, especially given the slightly wider handlebars over the custom. I'm really excited to try the ELDO. I think the ELDO will be my next bike.

They need to bring in the RED Eldo's. Bound to be faster..
Seriously, I'd like the Eldo with the black (not skunk!) touring saddle for a decent two-up instead of the token passenger pillion. Any way to know if it's adaptable?
I Like the Euro version of the Touring SE also, but seems it's not destined for our shores (??)

We are waiting for our two Eldo's so I cannot comment on handling but eve since I saw the specs I thought Michilin Commander II's and a set of tires that go 25,000 miles. All I need are decent side bags and trunk or rack.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing about the Commander 2's on that bike, although they would be bias ply rather than radials. (The Italian web side does list the stock tires as being radial, although it is not specified on the US site.) No biggie to me, just saying. A reasonably priced tire that could take you through an entire extended trip without a mid trip change is just what the 1400 needs.
