SmithSwede just got back home.    I rode Talimena Parkway over to Mena, and liked it so much I rode it back to Talihena.  Then various meandering paths through Oklahoma and Texas.

I stopped at Talihena State Park at approximately 3:32:17, but saw no signs of FUBAR.

Had a great time also.

Spent my saturday by checking out the various atv trails.

Climbed to the top of one trail, and at the top was a turn around and when I did, was greeted with this view!

Then went and checked out the rifle range. Gonna come better prepared next year.

After that went to Queen Wilimena to ride train, but it had brake issues and didn't run. Engineer said it was built in 1952.

He thought the problem was fixed and took it out on a test run. Track loops around the lodge and comes right back in front of station.

Had a great time visiting with everyone. Glad the can cooker worked out good and you liked the pork chops.

Doug kept up fed as usual. Fubar entertained us with some stories, the camp fires were popular all weekend.

Hope everyone makes it home and I will see ya in the spring at Cedar Vale!

Thanks Doug and Terry for the cooking, t-shirts are great, gonna be fun to wear this one around.

See ya,

There are not enough words in the dictionary to describe the wonderful time that was had.

Some observations in the 4 decades I've been riding to the best area in Oklahoma.

The biker bars have all gone by the wayside. Why would you want to sit in a biker bar when there are loads of places to ride to.

Sad to see many of the small towns that no longer have a grocery store or gas pumps.

Pams hateful hussy cafe still only charges 50 cents for coffee and tea with unlimited refills. Decaf is '75. Sho nuff beats Starbucks prices or so I'm told.

WOW. I finally won a 50/50 after buying for many years. It is a win/win deal as the hosts get 1/2 and a fellow rider gets the other half. I've never bought a Texas lottery ticket. The state gets 1/2 and some welfare queen might get the other half and both waste it.

Many thanks again to all that made it a very enjoyable weekend.

By the way, when I rode through the campgrounds on Sunday around 3:32:17 p.m., the place was spotless.  You could not tell our group had been there.

So thanks to everyone who pitched it and did the final trash and clean-up work.

Latest Fubar update . He is in his usual good spirits , maybe the hydrocodone has something to do with that  We are making arrangements with the VA hospital here in Muskogee to get him fixed up and on his way back to West Chester Heights Nebraska . He wants to let everyone know how much their efforts are appreciated .

Just want to ad , the Talihina PD was contacted and have been a great help , an officer made a food run last night and helped with a couple of other issues , and returned this morning with a bag full of breakfast , Tom was impressed and grateful .

We went to see him (mike Tim and I) and convinced him to take the donated $$ and go to the motel. He was feeling better after a OxyContin. The nurse told me he had a fractured FUBULA.

Bev broke her fibula slipping on an iced sidewalk.  She didn't go to the doc until she finished the day at work and then went the work the following day.  It took a surgery, a couple of screws, a few weeks in cast and a little longer on leg scooter.   She had the screws removed a year later after she healed and the screws broke.

Best to FUBAR Guzzi

Just arrived home a few minutes ago -- 1780 miles in total.  I overnighted in Poplar Bluff, MO in each direction.  Had a great time.  Kudos to those who planned and were involved in actually doing the NAR.

Ride safe out there.  The road is full of crazies!

The best ride of the rally was Darren and I passing a guy with ape hangers on the parkway.  He was giving it all it had and wrestling in the corners, he really gunned it when we passed and left him in the mirrors.

next deal was Ken Bunch riding his 96 HP Electra Glide.  He was nearly scraping the highway pegs on that baby.  When he crossed over into the passing lane, I thought I would follow him at a safe distance.  That's entertainment.  I've never seen anyone run a Glide like that one.

Enjoyed the weekend. Fridays ride was chilly with no sun, which beats some of you that found rain. The weekend sure made up for it though.
thanks to JN - for introducing us to his neck of the woods.
thanks to Dusty - always the great host.
thanks to Doug - for bringing the spatula.
and thanks to the generosity of all! Sunday morning I decided to "pass the hat" for FUBAR but that ended up being a mistake. By the 4th donor I had $50.00! I stopped there thinking that would be an incentive to get a room for the night instead of coming back to his tent. It worked. He called Monday and is comfortable and waiting for his ride back to Nebraska. He will visit on this forum when he gets home.

Thanks for those that showed interest in my trailer project. It was a winter planning and a summer building. Been through nine states with good results so far. I can post a build thread if there is interest.
Great rides in the Talimina. I will be back.          Tim
