My Father's '72 Eldorado (Update)
« on: July 07, 2015, 04:52:11 PM »
Back in September of 2011 I promised you guys an update, here is the original post:

"Got a call from my Uncle Jim one day, said he had an old Moto Guzzi in his barn in parts and wanted to know if I wanted it?  I told him I needed a winter project and I would be up that weekend to get it.  Called my Dad and found out the bike was his.  He bought it in April 1972, sold it to his brother in 1975 so he could buy the new model.  Jim tore it down in to make some modifications and repairs.  Among the parts I found the aftermarket digital dash, all the gears and shafts from the tranny recall.  Jim got all the engine work done (pistons, rings, sleeves), wiring was such I mess I just replaced the entire harness, both carbs are cleaned and rebuilt but the kits didn't come with the float needle so I am waiting on them.  Need all the cables and the petcocks for the gas tank.  Rubbed out the paint on one side cover and it came out great, I'll be able to save the original paint job.  With any luck a couple more pay checks and I will have the old girl on the road again.  Hope to take her for at least one ride before the snow starts flying."

Since that day I have replaced a total of 97 parts and spent $1,637.00.  Aside from an oil leak that started 4th of July weekend she has been a sweet ride.  Thanks to all you folks that helped me out with your advice and answers to my questions.  Took this picture last weekend end.

We will be heading to Sturgis, SD on August 1st, maybe I'll see some of you guys there.

how cool is that...riding your dads old bike 40 years after he unloaded it. Well done.
