Guy's engine broke the con rod bolts on one side and is out of commission for this years rally.
Haven't seen any of the damage, only talked to the guy on the phone. He is a bit hard to make sense of at times as he claims to have gotten a bit too close to the "Agent Orange" way back when... He only has one leg but, that's from a motorcycle wreck.
Anyway we converted him from his old worn out BMW sidecar rig to power it with a 95 Cal 1100. He ran it for the last year or 2 and has been happy with the Guzzi. Driving out his driveway one spring day this year it went BANG! and he found that the con rod had dropped the lower half into the pan.
He isn't all that familiar with Guzzi's but has gotten it apart and thinks there is no other damage than the con rod. I have my doubts...
Several members of the Wisconsin club are willing to assist as we can. I am not sure how much money the guy can afford to fix things and I hate to have him get it back together and find more issues.
I wonder if anyone out there has an engine we could get for a reasonable $$ and then we'll help install it for him. Maybe even find a smoking deal on another complete California 1100.
Any and all ideas welcome.
