Dry fit of G5 project

Finished my paintwork and wasn't sure if I liked the outcome.  Did a quick dry fit and am pleased with the look.  For you purists (and me) I retained the chromed fenders and can restore if needed.  The front end, brakes, frame and body work are done.  Next will be the engine/tran, rear shocks and electrics though these will have to wait as other duties call for my attention as well as budgetary sensibilities.  I'm putting on 850T toolboxes (thanks again Jim) but will have to adjust the electrics and relocate the rear master cylinder after I have it assembled.  I'll be cleaning and disassembling the engine as time permits but no "heavy lifting" for the time being.

Screw the purists!  Make it yours.  I like it.  I really like that I'm not the only one who uses cardboard as a placeholder for things that haven't happened yet.

Nice colour, I prefer the look of the painted fenders with the gold stripes, has a classic British look to it, and that is a good thing. :1:

It's looking really tasty. Can't wait to see the finished project (I'm sure you are looking forward to that too!) - It's all going to tie in nicely. What tail light type setup are you going with? Early G5 / Late G5 / T3?

Greg Bender does great wiring if you decide to farm that out. Also, not sure what you plan on doing to the engine but mine didn't need any major work so while it was off the frame, I plugged everything up with rubber plugs and had it soda blasted.

Good luck, and remember... one thing at a time and it WILL get done.

Not sure, I have the original tail light but the chrome is buggered up on it, so might go with an old school round tail light as on the loop frames.

I hope not because the  "good part" of the fender is pointing forward but it's entirely possible.  No, wait, I'm gonna wrap the pipes in insulation and call it a cafe racer.

It looks to me that the forks are mounted correctly per G5 setup (front-leading brake calipers, Charlie may be thinking SP1000 setup which use the same lower forks, but reversed for trailing caliper setup); The fender is indeed mounted on backwards however. It should be like this:



If your paint scheme is pointing forward that way, then I'd say maybe leave it that way and call it intentional??
