V7 II Heavy?
« on: August 05, 2015, 07:12:04 PM »
Watched a YouTube video about some dude who rented a V7 II in Switzerland
to knock around on for a couple of days. Said it was a 'Fat beyotch' even though
he put up some text over the video that said it FEELS heavy (after posting the
actual weight). Another comment he made is that it was slow...he was behind
a truck and said he couldn't pass it. Basically, all he did was the diss the bike,
even though he said he wasn't. Sounded to me like a sport bike dude, and
wouldn't be happy unless he had 150hp at his disposal. Here's the video if
you want to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw1lD_i-dtk
I wasted five minutes of my life watching this nonsense!

I saw that or a similar one and the guy said at one point that his own bike was a small displacement stripped down cafe racer and that he weighed more than his bike.  So I got the impression that the V7II was the first decent sized bike he had ever been on.  He ticked me off.  People are free to voice their opinions but I wish they would restrict themselves to something they actually know about.

I recently read a review of an action camera written by a lady who apparently thought she was buying a standard size point and shoot camera.  She said the action cam was a joke, it was so small it was like a toy and she gave it to her 9 year old and the kid didn't even want it.  Either it was written as a joke or it was another example of a reviewer having absolutely no knowledge about the product.

Meh, who cares? Doesn't sound worth watching. I know all I need to about the power or the weight from the nearly 10k miles I've put on mine...

Small blocks are plenty fast if ridden by someone who knows the shift pattern, and uses "the pace"...given that in a passing situation I much prefer my Triumph.

Thanks for the heads up.   I rode a V7II at the National and it's a light, peppy bike.   Sounds like the reviewer thought he was buying a substitute for his missing mansack and it didn't work for him.

I just this week bought a GoPro Hero 4 and it DOES seem like a kid's toy.   The thing is tiny and packed with an amazing amount of technology, though.   I WOULD comment on the fact that I can't upload pictures from it to my computer but I don't want to start a religious war here so I won't.

Probably only had 10PSI in the tyres. That'll make anything feel heavy.

No, I haven't bothered watching it either.

Kirk,

Yeah, I know. I couldn't remember if it was Sweden or Switzerland.
I only missed it by 1250 US miles. (Hey, at least I got the first two letters
right—) Anyway, it was the knucklehead on the V7 that was my subject.

I was ticked off after watching it, so I lost my train of thought.

Hey, don´s say anything against knuckleheads! When they are from 1936, black painted and made in Milwaukee! I have to admit, I don´t want to see them on my V7 Stone...

That is funny and brings up a realization.  People DO tend to confuse Sweden and Switzerland.  I see it from time to time.  Is this because both names begin (in English) with "Sw?"

That's about the only thing in common with the two.  They have very different people and cultures. Nice places, both, though. I've been there several times.

This commentary was done by a guy that would only pass a truck if he had 150HP under his cajones.  I pass trucks all the time in my Breva 750, and that often at 8-9000' density altitude (and have fun doing it).  You could tell by his voice that he was not a happy rider on a bike that you had to plan to ride.  Don't waste your time listening to his raves.  Jurgen

I posted this elsewhere today, but it really belongs here:

Ironically today I was riding through the Wharton forest, not really showing any desire to pass, maybe 50 yards behind a Durango that was doing about 65 in a 55 when the Durango decided to put their turn signal on and move half into the bicycle lane to let me by, even though I was just pacing them AND we were in a straight passing zone without a car in sight. But I didn't want to be impolite, so I dropped it a gear and quickly passed them and put some distance on them before coming back into our lane. I couldn't help but think of this thread where the doofus in a video supposedly was bagging on the passing power of the V7... yeah man, I'm sure you NEED to be doing more than 80 or 90 to pass where you live... whatever...

I took the little V7 Racer with the 'Record' kit out for a test ride after I'd serviced it. 2011 model, twin TB's. Apart from the kit and Arrow silencers, (Are they part of the kit? FIIK?) it was stock, oh it had a sensor fooler on it which people know I hate. Anyway I had absolutely no issues dispatching everyday traffic, including the ever-present sand trucks, to the mirrors. Keep 'em spinning in the 4,000-6,600 'Sweet Spot' and they are perfectly adequate, at least on 'Country' roads.

If he was challenged by making the most of what the bike had to offer or simply didn't like the way it did it? Go and buy/rent a Tuono and see what 'Stupid' is all about!
