A little help needed from Loop owners with pegs/not floorboards

Well folks, Ive picked up a '71 Ambo barn find

One of the first issues to tackle is sourcing missing parts....  The only conspicuously missing pieces that I really lack are the foot controls. (well there is a lot missing, but most of that will be replaced with new, ie: wiring harness, cables, turn signals, etc)

I'm pretty sure this thing is a frankenbike, the frame & engine #'s dont match... I think it also has a 5spd tranny?

I am working on getting a bonded title right now.

It appears my pegs & controls were robbed to convert a floorboard bike to pegs?

I need to see pics of the foot controls off a peg Ambo to help in sourcing the parts from ebay etc...

It is hard to tell what parts are for floorbard bikes vs peg bikes....  I am not very familiar with loops, I only see one regularly, and it has floorboards.  I have only seen loops up close on 1-2 occasions and that was well before I bought mine.

I'm sure my bike is a left side shifter, all the linkages etc are there... looks like just the levers, pegs, and brackets were removed

Definitely a five speed.

You don't show a clear right side view of the rear drive, but since no sump is hanging down, it's likely the correct one for an Ambassador. If it still has the Ambo 8/35 gear set in it, it will be geared too tall for use with the five-speed. Great on the highway, but horrible in town - lots of clutch slipping to get moving. It should have an 8/37 V700/Eldo/850-T rear drive to work well with the five speed.

It looks to be in pretty good shape.
Your brake has an extra linkage, the one Charlie showed is like mine.
I have a pair of foot pegs if you need them.

Before you buy a brake pedal, remove the "extra linkage" (short arm) on the brake shaft and measure the o.d. of the shaft. If the splined part of the shaft is 12 mm, it's for footboards, if it's 14 mm then it's for pegs. The brake pedal I posted photos of only works on the 14 mm splines.

The 12 mm splined shaft is valuable to anyone putting together a set of footboards. The arm is worth a few $$ no matter whether it's 12 or 14 mm.

Both a bit pricey IMO. I'd check with Mark @ Moto Guzzi Classics 562-986-0070 and Harper's to see what they have before I'd buy on eBay.

The left footpeg has a two-piece plastic bushing that supports the shift shaft on the pedal end. They usually come already in the footpeg. One piece is easy to find, the other isn't.

Thanks for the info... 

1. it does have the correct 'pumpkin' rear drive

2. this bike is going to be a forest service road runner and I will have to swap the tranny for a 4spd.. drat, I was worried about that.  The bike came out of Iowa, the tires are mightly square, maybe the PO was doing long distance highway riding? Or perhaps it's just cobbled together.

3. Charlie, those were the exact levers I was looking at on ebay..  The brake is for a peg bike for sure... that shift lever, the seller said it came off a floorboard bike...  Does this mean the shifter is interchangeable between the two.. or is the seller wrong?

4. Yeah, I have looked at This Old Tractor a fair bit.. tend to go down the rabbit hole there and never end up reading what I set out to!

5. Just bought a LM4 front fork with discs, and an 18" cali wheel to put on the front... sorry to disappoint, but it won't be a stock restoration

The shift lever has splines and a pinch bolt, that means it's for a 'peg bike not a 'board bike. The footboard shifter is totally different - hole has no splines, no pinch bolt, hole for a link rod, shaped different as well. It's upside-down in this photo:
