So I've been going through a new addition to the stable, what is going to be the girls bike. I've been picking at it all summer, pulled off the throttles, cleaned, new fuel hoses throughout, removed evap canisters and hoses, tied down unsecured fuel pump and filter, disconnect sidestand switch. I'm getting around to the PO's work, one item he changed all the dash bulbs to plugin LEDs. Generator light is inop, found the regulator is not OEM, looks kind of like an old Harley solid state reg. The 2 wires to the light(red and blue?) are cut off and taped up under the tank. That's ok, I don't mind taking the tank off again. I can get over 70 volts AC from the alt, isolated from the regulator, at around 4500 rpm(tach does not work). But I can't get over 13.5 at the battery. Seems a bit weak to me, and I guess I'd like to have the warning light working. I was looking at replacement regs at euromotoelectric, and the ad said not recommended for use with odyssey battery, which is what I'm running. Anyone know why? Any other recommendations?
I'd also like to go back to regular dash bulbs and I need a running light bulb too, any local equivalents?
I turn wrenches for a living, and this is my first fuel injected bike. I'm looking forward to riding it someday. I will say I find it a rather complicated and difficult bike to work on. Of course it's only hard the first 15 or 20 times, after that it's second nature.
