Fall allergies
« on: August 29, 2015, 07:00:29 PM »
Man , nothing can ruin a short ride like rag weed allergies. We had a wind shift from the west yesterday and with it came a nasty dose of ragweed pollen. I forgot how rude a reaction to this stuff can be. I sure hope the wind comes back around off the ocean soon. I'm not much for taking meds and such but this stinks. Took the Gris for a short hop and now can barely breathe. Funny how you forget about seasonal changes until they return. Oh well.

It's got me thinking, how about a full face helmet with an air filtration system? Maybe like a replaceable hepa filter.

I sure do hate sneezing inside a helmet.

The bad news is that the reaction gets worse as you get older .....

I guess everything gets worse as you get older, but it beats not getting older. Someone once told me to try bee pollen, whatever that is.

Ragweed is blooming like crazy around here at the present time and I went riding yesterday and didn't have any signs of allergy problems.
I suffered with allergies for many years until  six years ago when a member of the Modern Vespa forum posted about a product that he had been using that had eliminated his allergy problems. I decided to give it a try and it also worked for me.  The first season that I took it, my allergies were considerably better and each year since then, they improved even more.  I'm now at the point where I have NO allergy symptoms whatsoever.  The product is called Allergenia and they make different formulas for different parts of the country (by zones).  Here's their product page: http://www.meditrend.com/allergena/
You can buy it cheaper by Googling around for the best price; this year, I bought it here: http://www.dkvitamins.com/Progena-Meditrend-Allergena-GTW-Zone-2-1oz-_p_8562.html
I live in what they call, Zone 2.

Basically, what this product does is give you a dose of the items that cause your allergies and you slowly build up an immunity against those things.  I start taking it each year on the first day of March and take it through October when the ragweed is gone.  As I said earlier, I am now completely free of allergy symptoms and I don't have to take as much of the product as I used to take to keep my immune level up enough to counteract the things that affect me.  One of my sons also has allergies and it also worked for him.
It's too late in the allergy season to build up enough immunity in your body to help you this year but if you buy several bottles (you'll use around a bottle a month) and start taking it next March, you'll find out if it works for you by the time your allergies start bothering you (mine typically started in mid-April).
I hope this helps some of you as much as it's helped me.

Thank you for sharing that, I am glad it worked so well for you and your son. I have always had mild reactions but nothing like this year.

Jackson,

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to give those drops a try.  I've been suffering with these allergies most of my life, so I'll try just about anything.

Thanks again

You only need to put a couple of very small drops (under the front of your tongue) around four times a day.  Each bottle comes with it's own squeeze dropper.  Just suck a couple of very small drops worth into the tube to where you see the liquid around 1/8" from the tip of the dropper.  You just need to get it into your system and keep it there to build up your immunity to the pollen that's causing your allergies.  As I posted earlier, I only take it from March 1 through the end of October.  No more itchy throat & inner ears........... or runny nose problems for me.  I hope that it works as well for you as it has for me.  I was extremely skeptical when I first heard of it but I'm now a believer.
