Wait, what did you do to my link to make that work. Just inserting those Google pic links in img tags wasn't working for me?

Damn that is a nice seat.  And I don't even like cafe racer bumps - that mini one looks sharp, Guzzi eagle fantastic.

I've been experimenting with some modded V7 seats.  I'll get that one and add some accents to it as well as our foam(s) and post it up when I'm done.

Almost finished with a different variation now-new idea for density testing-we'll see how it works out.

Ahhhh, so you do add foams? Maybe we should talk about doing something to my cafe seat?

Is this the one that is a little taller?

No, stock height.  I did call to verify prior to my purchase.  It does visually appear taller, but my leg reach to the ground is same as stock.  Their ad for the SINGLE deluxe seat does say it's made for longer legged riders.

The bump is back further for "more leg room".    The seat might not necessarily be any higher.

No.  It's no different than posting a picture of any other web page page.   You don't use the address of the whole page, but, just the address of the image.

Another method, is to right-click, select "view picture", which browser to the image file itself.  Then, you can copy from the address bar of the browser.

No Jay, I know all that. But prior to a recent change with Google I could just do that from my Google pics account.

Now, maybe because of some privacy concerns or something weird it won't work that way.

I have to select the photo I want to post.

Click on " get shareable link "

Copy said link (which I posted here)

Click on said link, THEN right click the photo.

Previously I could just right click the photo at the beginning of that. But I see the difference in the photo coffee tagging that they changed to directly prevent that.

I was just looking at it, I see what you mean.    I typically use flikr, they have a feature like what you're saying.   In fact, you can get the BBCODE to insert directly into the post, which as the img tag, and makes it so if someone clicks on your pic in the post, they go to your flickr page.    Photobucket also has a similar feature.

Good info!  Just ordered the 1.5.  I was thinking about customizing the stock seat to take the dip out of it, but the 1.5 appears to be level from front to back, just what I was looking for.  Thanks for the recommendation, Cam.

At present I'm on day 10 of an 11 day trip  which has included a few 600 - 700 km days, and mostly 150 - 200k at a stretch (4,300 km so far, back home tomorrow). I'm using the cafe seat (but with rear sets & clips ons) and have absolutely no trouble, pains or discomfort riding. I guess I'm the appropriate body shape, or after 140,000 km on the V7s, I've adjusted. Although, there was that 300km non stop stretch a few years back (before the rear sets, I think, and perhaps on the stick seat) that had me in agony for the last 100km.

I'm still considering that ribbed seat - they look good.

Ok got ya. It would be nice to find one that was a little taller. The DLX states it is longer as well but not taller?

kev m,
Try Pat at Astech seats.  He really does a great job with the V7.  I'm doing a lot but for now it's for me and a group of test riders.
Now, if you need a waterproof/sunproof seat COVER for your new stuff.............. ...well, I'm your guy.

The secret to greater comfort ony my V7, FOR ME, was to ride the piss out of the bike. The seat was a wooden plank when I bought it... now it feels awesome.

On my Stone I gave up on the stock seat after about 7k miles... if it wasn't broken in then, it wasn't going to break in enough FOR ME.

Bill Mayer of Bill Mayer Saddles is also known as Rocky. His brother is Rick and is the subject of some issues. I have a BMS on my Cal Special and it made all the difference.

Two things.

First, I'm still trying to decide about what custom seat maker to go with for my spare stocker.  I've had some good communication with Loren at Baldwin.  They were featured some years back in an issue of MCN.  He says he can raise me up and improve the stock seat while still keeping the vintage look, similar to his work such as this he's done for Bonnies and Scramblers.  Says $425 plus shipping for the all vinyl, $620 and shipping for leather.

Second, a question.
Anyone find any pictures anywhere of a Russell on a V7?  If you can't find one is anyone here skilled enough with a photo chop app to mark one up?  Russell has a picture of a Stone seat they've made on their website; yet, the photo - purposely, I wonder - doesn't show much of any of the bike with the seat on it, just mostly close ups of the seat; thus, you get no real sense of what one would look on a V7, or rather, exactly how terrible it would look.  Been my experience Russells are the best in the business for comfort but they double as the ugliest seats around.  I tried googling every term and use of quotations my library brain could think of for google image searches but I can't seem to find anything.

If you go to the Russell site and click on specialty seats, click on the black and yellow v7 special and it will show a full view of the bike.

I know many here go with function over form, but it would be a shame to ruin the looks of that beautiful Stone with a monstrosity of a seat.  If the 1.5 doesn't work out for me, and I can't find anyone locally, I may have to go the Baldwin route myself.  Thanks for posting that pic.

I know, I know!  I keep telling myself the same, especially as Loren has been so friendly and helpful as opposed to my Russell experiences in the past where my questions and such are usually met with almost cantankerous responses.  If I got the Russell I would only be having the driver portion redone as my wife no longer rides with me.  And in truth, the only reason I would choose the Russell over the others is for the added backrest driver option as that has proven beneficial for me on my previous Cali.  Having said this, I suppose I could just get a Ventura rack and bag for travelling and perch it right behind me and that would likely serve just as well.  And too, when I tally up the order sheet on Russell's page it's (ouch) $750 with shipping.  Maybe I'll give Loren a call.

Now we're different heights so maybe that's the difference. But I can't see a driver's backrest doing anything on the V7 for me. I've got an ever so slight lean forward. You really think it would make a difference?

My Jackal was different - seat seemed somehow lower to the frame, the bars came back a little more I dunno. But the riding position was definitely different.

Besides - Russell? Not just no - F NO!
