I took this pic today...

Building a brewery in Asheville NC and we just got the 1 barrel pilot system in.. Happened to coincide with washing the v65!

I was going to post it in Dusty's beer thread, but it appears to have been nuked??

Wanna talk beer? Craft, mass market, home brew, whatever...

Let's hear it!  :boozing:

I guess Dusty's thread hit a nerve! I made a comment about all the beers listed in the blind taste test have pretty much the same flavor or lack there of. What surprises me is how my tastes have changed in beer. I know some of the beers have changed over my 40 year history of beer drinking. But, I find recent beers that I once liked not quite as pleasing as before.
Right now, my go to beer is Domaine Dupage from Two Brother's in Warrenville IL. New Glarus makes a seasonal called Fat Squirrel, it should be available soon. I'd like to get my hands on some Three Floyd's Robert The Bruce but, I hear the delivery drivers need an armed guard to control the hoards on delivery day. I'll have to make a run to Kalamazoo and pick some up!

I didn't know you worked in/with a brewery, neat.  You probably know I'm a home brewer, making 1/2 barrel batches.  It would be fun to stop by sometime and see what you do.

Well I've never worked in a brewery before... Building one now!

I'll be running the food (sandwich shop) and my partners (former brewmaster at Highlands brewing and former head of lab/quality at Oskar Blues) will be making the beer.

We should be open in October, come check us out!! Free pint for all WG and ADV posters!

I'm not close enough to just drop by, but I might plan to stop for lunch on the way to the week-long 2-stroke meet at Deals Gap next spring.

My wife and I love Asheville and all of the craft breweries there.  Fond of Hi-Wire and several others.  We are going back down for the Thanksgiving weekend and will try to look you up.  What's the name of your brewery?

Can and bottle check, fellas

What are we drinking this evening?

For me as I hang stainless on our walls

Nice local IPA from Hi-Wire. I find this one a bit blunt.. It's very hop forward but a lot of round bitter flavor as opposed to citric antiseptic tingle I prefer in my IPAs. Good and drinkable tho, after 10 hours of stainless, it's going down easy

Here's what I did today

Lots of F-ups

Behind the bar looks pretty good

Sandwich shop still needs much trim work

Oh well I guess a couple won't hurt, I still got all my fingers!

To those who asked our name & location..

Home brewed American Brown Ale and home brewed Sierra Nevada style IPA.  Nice stainless steel installation in your photos.

Mayor, excuse my ignorance, but is Sweeten Creek Brewery your business or work?

I ask because if all goes well by business-cation bike trip should find me in Asheville next Saturday.

I'm not sure I understand the question... it's both!

I'm a partner in the brewery & I run the in-house sandwich shop I think my official title is Foodservice Manager or Managing Partner.. my partners didn't think 'Sandwich Czar' was as funny on the business cards as I did

come on in, tours are free and the beer is cold. I'm there all day on saturdays, usually about 9-6/7...  We are open 11:30-9pm

Yeah I guess I was asking both lol.

Come to think of it I'm actually staying in the city Friday night and leaving Saturday morning to meander the Parkway northward.

You there on Friday evenings too?

Either way, I'll definitely try to stop by to see the place and grab a bite and a beer.

We liked Ashville last time we were there although the main square seemed to have a quite high proportion of feckless junkies and seedy, shifty looking types. There also seemed to be groups of 'Happy-Clappers' trying to *Save* the junkies with Jesus and nothing else which to us looked like a hiding to nothing but overall we had a great night! Didn't get robbed or stabbed and all the people we talked to were great!

Being a beer affiscionado (Sp.) you'd better PM your location too us as I'll happily boost your profits! We may well be over again next year although our plans are 'Rubbery' at the moment. Jude will be retired though so she'll be able to cut up rough so I hope you have good bouncers!

Brad and I really enjoyed our too short time with Chad and Sweeten Creek. The beer was great, the food killer.
Attaboy! I'd recommend this place to anybody that enjoys craft food and beer.  :thumb:

I have done a few projects for Bell's brewing near where I live. It's an amazing place full of people who really love what they do. It's grown to super size since they started 30 years ago. Most of the growth has been in the last 5 years. Having an inside guy to help get some BB aged Expo stout, Black Note, and some other rare items is always nice...

I live near Grand Rapids, MI...you can't throw a dead cat without hitting a brewery. Some good, some not. They do brewery vacations around here...much like you can do in Asheville. Thirsty Monk is a cool stop.

New Glarus is another amazing brewery to tour (copper clad stainless kettles)...they'll sell you a beer while you walk around. WI is awesome. 25th largest brewery, but they only sell in WI(!) Try the thumbprint series and the 750ml fruit beers. They are killing it right now.

Dusty, no fruit, I think you saw a guest tap cider.

I had the English Mild and Brown Ale, both were perfect.

No shit, something like 38 breweries in the metro area, many in walking distance.

It's a destination!
