Roller Conversion Done
« on: October 02, 2015, 09:03:55 PM »
After all the speculation, information hunting, parts availability issues and of course shop time my 2012 Stelvio NTX is running roller tappets. Took the bike out and found that it is really only a touch quieter but all seems to be working well. For now the bike is running much like it did before the A Kit install so it would seem for my case the fuel mapping is able to work with the roller set up in place. Really glad to have this issue taken care of.

Like a whole different bike from a peace of mind stand point isn't it. Kind of like getting a toothache fixed.

Glad to hear it went well.  I am planning on installing kit A on my 2012 Norge when the kit arrives.  Any advice or tips on the procedure ?  The rollerisation thread described it well, just wondering how it went for you --

Pete's step by step worked very well. Two items do come to mind though. Be sure to have a long screw driver with a THIN round shank to depress the left side chain tensioner. And, when you get the rocker shafts installed on the new cam box with the small half round shims in place ( I used assembly lube to keep the shims kind of glued in.) use rubber bands, twist tie or something like this to keep them positioned so that the shims cant fall out while installing the assembly on the head. When you assemble them on the bench you will see what I mean. All in all not a really bad job but time consuming when doing all of this with the engine in the frame and working around all of the various lines, wire bundles  and other parts.
