Waylon and Willie have cancelled other shows.  May want to check on this one.

If Waylon shows up things will get REALLY strange Jack . In Texas , they called Willie " Won't show up Willie"

I've seen some of the ride ideas.  The sisters is pretty ambitious for Saturday if you want to spend any time at the event.

l can lead the guzzi gaggle on a nice 100-130 mile ride with a break for finest bbq in Texas if anyone is interested.

Correct...likely to be a shorter ride on Saturday than my original plan to be able to enjoy most of the day at the Festival.  Perhaps just a morning ride out and about for 4 hours...we can cover some interesting roads in that time.  We may get there early enough on Friday to do a Hill Country ride after checking in to the hotel as well...lunch in Fredericksburg and then a ride around.

If you guys want to shoot me a PM with your phone numbers, then I can send a group text out and arrange for a common meeting point/time so everyone gets the notice.

Cheers,
Paul

newsflash:

Better stay clear of Austin, it's F1 weekend there.  I plan to be at the show on Saturday and ride on Sunday.  There's BBQ and a movie.

we need to get a phone list together.

Thanks Dusty...still in El Sur until next week, not yet back in El Norte!  :)  That would be great to sticky it!

Totally agree on missing Austin, we're likely to skirt underneath most likely thru Lockhart or San Marcos over the backway.

I'm happy to collect phone #'s if folks want to PM me with their name/number and then I'll send a group text out.

It's an easy 4 hour ride back to Houston so a Sunday morning ride also would be great, after a stop at the German bakery for some Mohnkuchen (poppy seed cake)!

Lucydad,

If you are truly game about going to Harvest Classic, you can rent gear at REI for the weekend. I could lend you a 3 person tent which pops up in 30 seconds  Rob will be driving out towing his Griso in my trailer so you could throw your gear into the truck and just ride.  Looks like we may have 5-6 folks from Houston headed out and at lest that many to meet up with in Luckenbach.

Mike has kindly offered to lead a ride on Saturday morning...meeting around 9-930 at the German bakery in town for coffee and pastries and then we ride about 100-140 miles loop back to Luckenbach to enjoy the show.

More details coming as the date gets closer.

Plenty of rain forecast for the weekend...should make for some interesting riding Friday heading out there, I hope the Saturday show and movie is not a washout completely due to weather.  May have to wear the Souwester!

Saturday's ride may be weather dependent, or perhaps cojones dependent, depending on how bad the rain is.  Pity too as Texas Hill Country makes for great riding...I'm sure Formula 1 practice on Saturday will be interesting too, although Sunday looks dry enough!

Rain gear...extra clothing...hot coffee in the Hydro Flasks and plenty of patience on the road out.

Thanks to those who sent me your phone #'s...if anyone else wants to meet up on Saturday morning for a coffee/pastry at the main German bakery, even if we don't go for a ride...aiming to be there around 9 am for a meetup.

Bis bald...A bientot...Hasta la Vista baby!

There is a good chance that my guys will cancel the trip due to the forecast.  I'm still going.  I am PMing you with my number as I would like to ride out with yall if you can accommodate another bike.

despite having an RV spot paid and planning for a Texas vacation for another week or so, I am not enamored going there and sitting in the rain.  Forecast is 100% rain on Friday and 90% on Saturday.   I wonder if there is a rain out date?  Looks like a rain or shine deal.

dang it.  last time I went to Kerrville 4 years ago it rained cats and dogs and hadn't rained there before in about 5 years.  Now it's going to rain this weekend and I bet it hasn't in the last 4 years.

Low,

I'm still on the fence.  Raining hard in Galveston as I write this a little over 3in so far today.  Quarter of inch was predicted.  Weather prediction is a crap shoot at best.

Those planning to attend.  Be respectful of flash flooding normally sedate Shoal Creek flooded my house X2 when I lived in Austin.

If I make it it will be in my Vandominium, but I may pack the little Stone along in case the weather for casters are wrong yet again.

yeah, flash floods in Hill Country are pretty common.  anyone riding there should beware of high water crossings even in the San Antonio, Austin, San Marcos.

I might just leave next week.  I want to cruise around San Antonio and Port Aransas.  The HC was just part of it.  I'll take the Cali and leave the Sport at home.   I might check if the Armadillo Campground would allow my deposit on camping next week.

I'm with you guys...all 4 of my riding buddies from Houston have just bailed a few minutes ago due to rain.

I will make a last minute call as well here...no fun riding in flash floods or monsoons...even if Sunday will be nice, it will be messy.

Pity...let's hope for a sudden high or low front to move in and clear out this crappy weather!

Looks like we may have to rendezvous another time!

Shoot me your number...you are most welcome to ride along at any time.  I'll make the call very last minute on whether I head out though...

80% chance of hard thundershowers doesn't look like much fun however for a 220 mile trip to more rain...would have to be too cautious.  The only nice day is Sunday...would only get in 1/2 day of Hill Country riding before having to head back.

If you're up for it, will add you to the list of riders I normally send a note out to for riding on the weekends though...glad to have you join us or vice versa.

Cheers.

I am thinking about heading down next week.  I'll spend a few days in Luckenbach if they honor my camping deposit.   Otherwise I'll just head straight to San Antonio and Port Aransas.  The Mrs and I can cruise around on the EV.  The Greenie stays at home.

That makes more sense John...weather forecast continues to be dismal for this weekend.  I'm wondering how they are even going to put on a movie at night with the rain forecast.

What a pity...still hoping for a last minute change of weather pattern, but it doesn't look good at this point...may just have to clean the bike this weekend instead of riding it!   :)

I was looking forward to meeting up with you guys if the good lords willing and the creeks don't rise.  Well the creeks are gonna rise.  I've paid my dues camping in the rain so I'm pulling the plug on this one.  See you next time.

No worries...next time around!

Just cancelled my reservation at Armadillo Farm Campground.

Weathered many a deluge in the hammock, but the very real threat of flash flooding makes this a no go for me.

David Welch saved our bike and possibly our lives by waking us in time to evacuate up the hill at Luap's rally.  Gave me real respect for rising water.

Ask some of the old timers  (not me) about Money Creek.

Young bucks don't let your big cajones outweigh your common sense.

Hopefully better weather for Swamp Scooters Part Deux.

You're right Dave...At this point given the weather forecast, pretty sure no one is headed that way this weekend...would be more fun to head out in the Land Rover rather than the Guzzi just in case with an empty trailer and provide towing services!  :)

I did cancel my reservation at the Armadillo.  The lady was so defensive about me losing the deposit that I just gave up on trying to reschedule my visit there.  I think I'll skip it and go straight to San Antonio.

She did not ask me for a deposit, just an assurance that I was not trailering with a truck as she had no more room for anything but could probably squeeze in a solo bike camper in a pup tent.  She said they operate on the honor system.  I tried to call her back on Tuesday to cancel but I got a recording saying the phone lines were down and not to leave a message, so I didn't.

I saw where Kerrville city park is a cheap place to camp but I have not been there to see what it is like.  It might be a good base camp for hill country run.  Too far from Lukenbach for Harvest C I think.

5 inches of rain in Austin already and more on the way.  even wetter in some places west.  The Harvest Classic site says it's still on but I can't believe many people will show up.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the F1 race.

I can't imagine they're enjoying themselves very much with the down pouring rain and flooding...would be a mud fest at best.  Saturday's Formula 1 practice will be interesting...total ly different track conditions for Sunday!

I'm sure I'm not surprising anyone, but I've officially bailed on Luchenbach.  Dang, was really looking forward to that and kept hoping the weather would not be as bad as forecasted.

Is anyone going?  Now I'm morbidly curious.
