EBC 300 mm pro lite floating disks to G5 clearance issues
« on: October 19, 2015, 07:31:32 AM »
I have replaced the stock front disks on my G5 with the EBC full floaters and have not really put everything together yet, but now that the racing season is over, I can pay more attention to the Guzzi so that I can get her out in the snow and crash her. In order to make these new front disks fit, I had to purchase slightly longer bolts, as the aluminum bases are slightly thicker. I also had to file away some casting irregularities on the inside of the fork legs. I may need to add spacers to the calipers in order to try to center them on the new rotors. They are currently seriously misaligned. Is this an issue that anyone else has had?

Thanks for any advice.
John

this is the "668" rotor nominally listed in the EBC catalog for Laverdas? It should be a bolt on replacement for the stock 25mm offset solid cast iron boat anchor of a rotor. You might have to shim the calipers to center them over the rotor. You should not have to play games with the axle spacer. remember the circlip bearing side goes on the nut side of the axle. I run this rotor on my Disk Brake Eldo. Once back in the day when I wanted to run the original floating gold line brembos, I had to extend the rotor notch on the inside of the slider downward toward the axle to clear the buttons. The EBC appears to need none of this.

Thanks man, these are the 300's listed on the MG Cycle website for my application. I did powdercoat the hubs and bearing holders, but the few mils thickness that this provides cant be a reason for clearance issues in my mind.

I thought about buying these for my Ca II. MG cycle lists them as a direct bolt on, they should not require any special mods at all. slight shimming of the caliper is something you have to do with the stock ones as well, at least on my bike, thats the case.
