Another Guzzi encounter in the same area
« on: October 20, 2015, 04:56:28 PM »
There must be something Guzzi-mystical about this part of Ohio.  A few weeks ago, I pulled in for fuel at the intersection of SR534 and old US6, and ran into Lee riding his Guzzi from Sault Ste Marie to his new homeplace down South.

Today, the temps jumped to almost 70F at 2pm, and any thoughts of sorting thru paperwork went out the window.  Jumped on the 1200 Sport, and headed out for a short, 2-3 hour ride.

I pulled off of 534 at the Harpersfield covered bridge, with the intention of taking a few end of the season pics, when a lovely but small sports bike stopped, and the rider took off his helmet to talk.  He was riding what I first thought was a 650 Ninja, but it turned out it was a 300cc bike.

We talked about the Ninja, then the rider mentioned he also owned a V7 Racer, with which he is absolutely in love.  Owning a Guzzi, he said, he had to stop and talk to a fellow Guzzi rider.  I saw a Racer in the area a few weeks ago, and we agreed it was probably his bike.

Phil, of Cleveland Moto, this is one of your customers.  He couldn't say enough good things about your shop.  I didn't ask if he was on WG (should have.)

Any more Guzzi encounters in this specific part of Ohio and I'll expect next time to hear the sound track from "Twilight Zone!"

I ran into Lee in CT last year.  He was coming from UT and headed to NY.
I know him from his Triumph days.

Ohio Rider,
Just checked to see where Harpersfield was and it brought back memories of riding those long straight Ohio roads up around the lake and back down toward Warren and Youngstown.  I totally forgot some of the names of the small towns along the way like Mesopotamia.  I miss riding in the area, I miss being able to homes and farms at great distance.  Some people say that it is just boring but I think it is somehow peaceful.

I have yet to meet another Guzzi rider.  They must be pretty rare around here.

In the 3 years I have been ridiing Guzzi I have only seen one bike on the road. Rare indeed. I ride out that way a few times a year. Mayhaps I will get a sighting.

Enjoy the ride
