New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
Some of you might remember my original post to the forum a couple of years ago titled "Rusty Rescue" after I drug home a weathered and damaged 96 California. My failed first attempt at a Guzzi.I found a V11 Scura in Wilmington and pulled the trigger. Did the trip today, and now the bike sits in my storage unit. It's number 270 and I acquired it from the estate of a gent that passed recently. He was the original owner and I have lots of documents. The forks were even reworked.I'm looking forward to finally getting to rock out the big twin.
is this bike for sale ? or it is just a coincident two scuras in the same town ?http://www.mgnoc.com/classifieds.html
I wish we could just let this thread fade away! I am being tempted. I do not need to buy another motorcycle- especially one that I've already had and sold!
Scura will be the new LeMans 1. A beautiful, charismatic sporting motorcycle made in limited numbers. The best of the spineys.M
I love the Scura, it's a really nice bike to ride, but - just my opinion - it lacks the design/engineering integrity of the LM. A lot of it's design is make-do: I reckon the 2valve/6 speed power train was meant for a totally new frame but for whatever reason MG stuck it in more or less what they already had with the 1100Sport. Would be interested to know the genesis of the V11Sport series. Anyone here know?
I'm not sure that I understand your question..
The V11Sport comes with the 6 speed box which is far shorter than the earlier 5 speed. It could go in a shorter frame, possibly with a decent length swingarm & modern rear suspension design. If you look at the rear of the 6 speed box, various bits in the casting don't have any obvious function when fitted to the V11Sport. MGS01 swingarm is hung from it's gearbox.I wonder if the 6 speed box was designed to fit a new, short frame, but for whatever reason, that frame wasn't produced & instead it was shoved into what was already available - the Sporti frame - & put out to market as the V11 Sport. The V11Sport frame/trans design has always struck me as a bodge. I wonder if Guzzi did have a new production frame in mind as a successor to the Sporti, but that maybe their financial situation etc meant it never happened. Just interested.
I had a scura with exploding flywheel, engine and gearbox had to be replaced because there were housing parts blown away. They will all do that, it's a matter of time. http://fastguzzi.nl/gallery/main.php/v/Myv11Scura/You can leave gearbox in place, just pull engine to the front. See pictures.
Do you mind telling me where the carbon tail fairing was sourced?
