V7 Exhaust Question

Hey all,

I'm trying to decide between the LaFranconi Competizione exhaust and the Mistrals for my V7 Classic. I've called a few of the online shops, MG Cycle, AF1, and nobody has heard them both. I've watched all the youtubes there are on both, but again it's hard to tell from just watching a video. Has anyone heard both and have a good comparison? Any idea which one is louder? thanks

I haven't heard either exhaust, I have Arrows. I've seen good reports on both pipes, I considered each before going with the Arrow. My best guess is that since the Mistral has a removable baffle that the Mistral would be louder when running w/o baffle. If you do a search on the forum you will see many posts on this topic. There is wide variety of opinions on "loud pipes". My Arrows are "just right" Loud enough to hear the rumble but not so annoying in the neighborhood and on long rides. More importantly the bike runs well and didn't require any re-flash of the ECU which can add hundreds to your final bill. Let us know what you choose, and some pics of course!

Agostini's are just too expensive. I'm trying to get them louder without spending a fortune. I ride in NYC so I actually need people to hear me coming more so than just being loud and obnoxious. That's why I'm looking for the loudest possible, I can't tell you how many pedestrians almost jump out at me on a daily basis.

No experience with the Lafronconis, but I put Mistrals on my '13 Special. The Mistrals sound much deeper and slightly louder than stock with the baffles in, and too loud for my tastes with them removed. I think they look good and they are relatively inexpensive so they might be a good choice for you. If you run them open you probably need to address the fueling as well.

I put Mistral Cygars on mine, and IMHO they look and sound great even with the db killers in. Definitely louder than stock,  they give a real nice rumble and a classy retro look. Leaving the silencers in meant no fuel remap required (as well as not pissing off my neighbors).

They were on the bike when I bought my 2010 V7cc. I loved the sound, drove it this way for years, then out of curiosity removed the DB Killers and never put them back, it now sounds even better. Low, mean rumble. But not loud, if that makes sense.

I have Mistrals on my 2012 and know others with Arrow's on other bikes.  I like the sound of the Mistral w/o the DB killers. Nice deep rumble at idle and a fantastic growl at elevated RPM's under load. The Arrow's were not to my liking as they sounded stockish. YMMV.

Okay, you've convinced me I need to at least try them w/o the db killers. As soon as I'm done upgrading the suspension I'll tweak the exhaust. Thanks for the tips.

Mistral reverse cones on my V7 Stone....freaking LOVE them. Beautiful sound and a good bit louder over stock. Take baffles out to if you want to annoy the neighbors. May need a reflash if you want to run baffles out only. It's easy to install the mufflers. Be careful with the graphite gaskets......they tear easy and can stab ya.

Same experience here: way too load without baffles and the bike ran like crap. (even with the baffles installed)
I've put my stock pipes back on until GuzziDiag has a map for the V7 ECU.
... there are some incredibly loud horns out there.

Agostinis run great with or without baffles on the V7s and no need to re-map.  I know you said they're too expensive for your budget, which I respect, but on the other hand, having heard them all, there isn't a better sound than the Agos.  (imho)

You can buy Agostinis direct from Agostini in Italy and save a bundle. Call them and speak with Nicola.

I ran an Agostini on my Norge, without the DB killer. It ran well, with or without the DB killer, and it sounded fantastic with the DB killer removed--not too loud, like some Harleys, but deep, authoritative, powerful, and manly.
