Plastic welder kits on Woot today 11/6

I think this could be a handy tool but its not a traditional plastic welder that uses plastic rod, preferably the same type of plastic that you are trying to bond, and heat to melt the rod.
This device dispenses UV curable one part epoxy.  Similar UV curable epoxies have been around for a while used in optics and well as in dentistry. Resin fillings are essentially this stuff with coloring added.

No idea why they call that a 'plastic welder'. It is a glue.

There's a cheaper version of this advertised on TV. What I wonder is how you can replenish the liquid when it runs out.

It clearly depends on what plastic you intend to weld, but I've had good luck using Ice cream pail handles as a rod and a soldering gun to fix poultry waterers.  :grin:

Thanks, will definitely get me 1 of these.  No more throwing out plastic lense glasses or other objects just because they get broke/damaged.   :boozing:

You can make your own glue for some plastics by dissolving the same plastic or similar in a glass jar with MEK overnight . If it dissolves it works well, if not it won't work at all.
