Rider Magazine had an article about touring the country this way in 2014. Excellent read and looks like a great way to tour. That couple had multiple bikes though, so they could leave one at home.
I read that article and thought about it, and mapped out a potential plan.Only downside is the cost of airline tickets. It's like a crapshoot - you never know if a cross-country ticket is going to cost $250 or $1250 ...... and for two people it adds up.Lannis
:1: But it may still be the easiest, most cost effective, way to see the country by motorcycle. I haven't explored it myself, but I may look into it...
I'll just leave these here, even though they are a few years old. http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/detroit-to-san-diego-zen-and-the-art-of-motorcycle-negligence.265019/http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/san-diego-to-anchorage-the-grapes-of-rat.362853/I think some here might have seen some of this before, I'm not sure where I first encountered Vermin & Cack, it may well have been a link on Wildguzzi. WARNING! Do NOT click either of these links if you have any plans for next week. Howard
I think some of it depends on how long you can afford to stay away from home at one time. For example, if Fay and I wanted to take an 8-week tour of the country, 14,000 miles or so, we could do it all in one swipe, or do it in 4 stages, but paying for 8 roundtrip cross-country plane tickets.....Lannis
