I think I deserve a special award
« on: November 16, 2015, 06:29:41 PM »
It's getting cold now, and I'm cheap and didn't have any hand protectors.  Since I was riding quite a distance today (it ended up being 341miles) in chilly weather, I needed something to keep my hands warm, so I made these.  They worked like a charm too.

If you can't quite tell = they're gardener's knee pads...........

Did you hands stay warm, or at least net get unbearably cold?

If so, then, there's your reward.

Nick, I really like the look of the sheepskin? cover on your seat,, is that store bought? Mcgyvered?(if so what type of material and construction). how do you like it compared to your bead seat cover?
I happened to be out today as well, probably 100 miles NE of you,,glorious day, but cold,,, ran the Twister through Almonte/511/Calabogie/Pakenham.
Nice improvising on the guards,,, I admit to being a wimp, and using my Gerbing gear today, for the first time,,, I was impressed, and warm tho,lol

take care, Kelly

Nice

I have seen old bleach bottles cut in half and zip tied to the bars but the best I have seen is an arc welding shield cut in half on an old Suzuki!

Hi Kelly,
Store bought sheepskin from Alaska Leather http://alaskaleather.com/collections/sheepskin-buttpads. It has held up well to many miles and plenty of abuse.  Glad you had a good day. It was lovely.

How about the Nanook of the North award!

I used the velcro strap at one end (double wrapped) then enhanced with some electrical tape.  They stayed in place and did a fine job.  I don't know about permanent though

Two pairs of thermal long underwear under quilt-lined riding pants with knee armour.  My knees stay warm. :thumb:
