I've worn Shoei's for years and still like them, but I couldn't pass up a Schuberth C3 for $329 (from Revzilla). Limited sizes and colors. These must be discontinued, but that still looks like a good deal.

Ok, tell me more about these helmets. I'm a size MD, so they are in stock (white).

Have a full face Shoei but was thinking of getting an open face instead. I understand the safety limitations and don't like the idea of carrying a shield in the pannier.

The C3 is a modular, flip up chinbar type. FF coverage when chinbar is down. Nothing to carry in a pannier since it also has a flip down sun visor.

It's the quietest helmet on the market and supposed to be very comfortable.

I have a C2 modular that fits me great. The C3 and even the C3 Pro have a different head model shape, which have a massive pressure point on my forehead. Try before buy.

Im concerned with helmet closeouts (esp high priced ones) that they've been sitting on the shelf for a long time (assuming you care about the 5 year reported life span)

I took advantage of the Revzilla sale and bought the helmet last friday received it on Monday and rode with it Monday evening and all day yesterday. What a difference between my old Nolan N43E! Much quieter and almost zero buffeting. With my old Nolan buffeting and noise was a major issue. For what it is worth, I attended the AMA motorcycle show in Orlando in October and discovered the Nolan i was wearing was the wrong size, too big. I like the modular as I wear glasses and it is a lot easier to deal with and living in Florida it is nice to be able to open the helmet at stops during the summer. I was going to buy another Nolan, until i saw this sale and thought why not. Glad I did, I am going to like this helmet a lot. I did get the infamous Schubert 'mark' on my forehead but everything i have read indicates that should ease up once the helmet is broken in. Time will tell.

FWIW, I have never had a helmet that I did not need to 'adjust' a little bit here or there. And this is after 'test wearing' it in the store for 15-30min. Usually in the upper forehead region. A large spoon or que ball works wonders. Kinda like seats, take a while to settle in.

I used mine for about a dozen good rides, and the pressure point never eased up on my forehead. I even trimmed away some of the foam at the pressure point. I finally gave up on it, it was just unbearable. I sold it. I was really bummed, because my C2 fit so good. They for sure changed the head model shape on the C3. I ended up with a Shoei Neotec, and have no issues with it. Try before buy.

I had the same pressure point high on my forehead, fixed it with a C2 liner and wooden spoon. Fits great now.

Wish I could find a breath shield that fit. Schubert doesn't make one for the C3.

Well, mine came in and got to ride with it this morning. So, now I know what all you Schuberth people have raved about.

First, I have always had to adjust the fit of a helmet. My head measures 59.5cm which is a L for most mfgs but is between L and XL for the Schuberth. I got the XL. After two hours no hot spots, and it still passes the 'fit test'. I think part of my fit is because I am at the bottom of the fit scale for the helmet. It is also the larger shell size (the smaller shell is for XS to L, larger shell for XL and up). It does mean it's a little heavier than advertised, but, is still a bit lighter than my Symax III (which is a L and has a smaller shell).

Quiet. My previous 'best' quiet helmet was a Shoei RF1100. This helmet without earplugs is as quiet as the Shoei with earplugs. Yes, there is that much difference. This is not wind noise (I have a good fairing and windshield) but is road and engine noise (I also have louder exhast pipes).

If one fits I'd recommend buying it.

Got mine Wednesday, I wore it around the office for and hour or so Thursday and Friday, and rode T4T with it today. Very nice helmet, quiet and comfortable. I need to get used to the button to release the chin bar, it's not that easy to do with big gloves on.. I was right on the edge between L and XL I chose XL and over all the fit is great.

My Shoei was a large, but, was kind of a tight fit. I had to carve out in the top forehead area on my RF1100. From what I understand Shoei has some different shapes in different shells and they have changed over the years.

It seems Schuberth goes up one size from 'normal'. I'd suggest measuring your head and matching it to the Schuberth size chart. Of importance is shape. I'd be a bit careful cause according to webbikeworld measures, Shoei's seem to be a bit more narrow in shape and these are a bit more round in shape.

The Symax III I have is also listed as a slightly round, but, I had to work out a bit of the forehead on it too.

Also, I am nost sure if the fit is different between the smaller shell size and the larger one that I have.

Please do not take my word for any of this. Fit is so weird that some different things can affect it. When I was looking a couple years ago I loved the Nolan fit....except their liner cut right across the top of my ear. Don't know why but it made what would have been a great fit something horrible.

Like I said, I bought one with the idea that I might have to give it away cheap if it didn't fit. FWIW, some Beemer dealers stock Schuberth helmets.

My Schuberth C3 arrived today. Based on my previous experiences with Schuberth helmets, I bought one size up from their suggested size for my head circumference and the one-size up works perfectly. Just a little tight on the cheek pads right now but they will loosen up after a few rides. I didn't know that the helmet came with a "pinlock fog free visor" but it was in the factory sealed box and the booklet that came with the helmet (printed by Schuberth) gave excellent instructions re. how to install it. For $319, this helmet was a helluva good deal.

I didn't act quickly enough and Revzilla was out of my first two choices of color. By the time I got around to ordering, Revzilla only had the matte black in size XL so I looked for another source and Bobb's BMW had the same helmet in matte black (only color of the C3 that they offered at a low price; $319 including free shipping). At that point it was apples vs apples so I bought from Bobb's for $10 less than Revzilla.

Fedex didn't arrive until 6:00 pm so I'll wait until tomorrow morning to take it for a test ride. Many people who own this model on other forums claim that they no longer need to wear ear plugs due to the helmet being so quiet. A quick ride will verify that claim. I'm very fond of my Aria Signature helmet. The Aria is extremely comfortable but I cannot ride with it unless I wear ear plugs; the noise level is too distracting. (even when I'm riding my BMW R1200RT with a Cal-Sci windshield which eliminates the buffeting is so annoying from the stock windshield)

Have had the C3 for three seasons now - best helmet I have ever used. Schubert has a newer version, the C3-Pro it is pushing $1K CDN. I don't think it the C3 is any quieter than the Shoei RF11 that I used. I do like the modular flip and the built in sun visor.

Thanks for the Heads Up! I've been wearing a Schuberth C3 for a few years now. It's the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn in 46 years of riding. I need to replace my face shield, Pinlock, and Liners (ear pads, neck roll and top). Buying a whole new helmet is going to cost me about the same money as it would cost to replace the items I need.

My only problem is that I won't be back in the USA for several months. My poor new helmet will have to just sit there all alone until I return in May.
