The V7 II bikes and accessories
« on: December 01, 2015, 07:18:21 PM »
I bought a V7 II Special today. Others interested in this line may be interested in the following.

I want a Moto Guzzi (made by Agostini?) center stand but will have to wait. It's been confirmed to me that the current V7 stand won't work.

I also want a Moto Guzzi engine guard (in part as a place to mount a video camera), but apparently I'll have to wait for that too, because the current guard, and according to AF1 none of the current third party guards, will work. Not surprising given that the placement of the engine has changed.

What is a bit surprising is that the V7 II has been available for some time, especially in Europe, and Moto Guzzi apparently has no projected date for making these parts available.

I'll be buying the Moto Guzzi chrome rear rack that replaces the passenger grips, in part based on the recommendation of a member here, but note a caveat. I've come to the conclusion that I am never going to need side racks. If I did, I'd need to consider that this Moto Guzzi rear rack is apparently not compatible with Hepco + Becker side racks.

I may add to this thread as I go along, and if others have observations about the V7 II series, great.

Cheers

That's interesting, because the AF 1 site says expressly that the Moto Guzzi guard won't work, and indeed says that none of the third party guards that it carries will work.

Has AF 1 got this wrong?

That's interesting, because if the Moto Guzzi and Agostini guards are the same thing, the AF 1 site says expressly that it won't work, and indeed says that none of the third party guards will work.

Has AF 1 got this wrong?

Per AF1's own website:

Thanks very much for that. I got very different search results at AF 1, repeatedly saying will not work for V7 II.

Still no Moto Guzzi OEM guard, which is what I want, but good to see that there are third party alternatives.

Does anyone know when an OEM center stand will become available/whether one is already available in Europe?

The "OEM" guard for the V7 II is the "Agostini guard"
(as listed here)

Correct - unlikely to be compatible with H&B racks, however the OEM racks come with threaded lugs & a very handy mate had a tube bender handy, so with some 12mm stainless rod & a few pieces of stainless plate he knocked up this rack for the V7C. The rod & plate cost $AUD50. Plate is used to attach the rack at the lugs & at the pillion footpeg/muffler hangers.

That being said, I haven't felt the need to do the same to the V7S - I find the banana bag (mine's a Wolfman Beta Plus - but there's now many out there) has more than enough carrying capacity and is quicker & easier to mount & dismount than saddlebags. The Wolfman Beta also works well with the cafe seat, which I prefer (marginally).

For shorter trips I use a smaller seat bag = the Andy Strapz AA bag, which also ties to the pillion footrest hangers.

Why not?  If you can handle a drill to make two additional mounting holes, the MG rear rack can be compatible with the H+B Racks...
