Well, I've lived on a farm all my life. WTH are those critters? Never have seen anything like em...
Not to be confused with the European Bison. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kxT7fBKszshttp://www.arkive.org/european-bison/bison-bonasus/Dean
Daniel, are you over in Europe now. We had those wonderful mozzarella dishes when we were there in 2013.
Those European versions are little bitty things compared to our burly "Merican Bison Dusty
Yeah, those things are way too small to be considered "Buffalo"..
sigh...I checked that link and the best they can offer is "coming soon."
Those are buffaloes. The American version was called like that cause European explorers had not other words to call them.
My great grandmother would have called them Tatanka . Dusty
Tatanka is also the name of the buffalo patrol in the Boy Scouts Wood Badge. Wood Badge being the highest level of adult training started by Baden Powell, founder of the Scouts.Back to the salad, there's a similar Spanish recipe that calls for marinating the tomato slices in a good balsamic vinegar and olive oil prior to seasoning with coarse black pepper, sale and garnishing with basil, very thin onion slices, capers and goat cheese. Mom makes it as a side to most of her meals.Tobit.Tobit
Here’s a suggestion for Americans riding in Italy and wanting something for a light lunch that won’t make you want to nap for the next two hours: Insalata Caprese. You’ll not likely find it in a U.S. restaurant even though it’s ubiquitous in any Italian restaurant (real Mozzarella di Bufala is nearly impossible to find on this side of the Atlantic.Anyway, I seem to have taken enough photographs along the way:
You will have trouble milking a tatanka to get your cheese.
DY/Nelson, I'll bet you have no trouble finding the good stuff over there. You lucky DOG!Dean
