More Texas Tornadoes
« on: December 26, 2015, 11:52:54 PM »
Hope all you Dallas area folks are ok.  This tornado hit my cousins neighborhood.  Her house is ok, but many of her neighbors houses were totally destroyed.  My daughter's friend in Rockwall took this picture of the tornado in Garland/Rowlett.

This one hit in Sunnyvale, not too far from where my daughter lives.  This picture is from the Mesquite Scanner Facebook page.

Over here in Lindale, we've been very fortunate today, but we're supposed to get it Sunday - up to 10" of rain with possible tornadoes.

West Texas and the Panhandle will be having blizzards.

Does regular homeowners insurance help rebuild at least or do the insurance companies get to screw people like they do with earthquakes and make you buy separate insurance with 30,0000-50,000 deductibles?

"Five of the deaths were reported at the intersection of Interstate 30 and the President George Bush Turnpike, where a tornado threw cars off an overpass into traffic below, said Officer Joe Harn, the public information officer for the Garland Police Department. Photos posted on Twitter showed a tangle of overturned cars on I-30."

Most policies in Oklahoma are replacement cost policies, and do cover tornado damage .

They'll try to weasel out of paying as little as they can. A Guzzi rider told me that in a former storm he'd would have been treated better if he didn't have insurance.  FEMA comes in and gets busy to make the politicians more points.

In Oklahoma the answer is largely dependent on the company you are insured with . People often try to save a few bucks by going with a certain insurer W/O actually reading the particulars in their policy. Always good to read and ask questions . A well known national company was famous for writing sub-standard 80% policies to reduce premiums , witness what happened in Florida and Oklahoma recently. The lesson , read and understand your policy , and often times saving a couple hundred bucks a year is false economy .

I pay $2,400 bucks a year for a wind policy with a $7K deductible.

Getting a winter storm here.

Sleet covering the entire ground, wind blowing 30 mph at my house and temps in high 20s.  5 miles south and east in Okla City it's just slush and 32 degrees.  20 miles west and it's 6 inches of snow with freezing rain on top.  20 miles east and it's cold rain.  Tulsa has already gotten 7 inches of rain and flood in eastern OK.

All of it coming from the southwest from Texas and New Mexico.

Terrell checking in.  We are fine.

My youngest daughter and son-in-law were in a Mesquite Wal-Mart, where they called a "Code Black."   Gathered everyone to center of the store.  They stayed like that for more than an hour

I'm a huge fan of Texas Tornados...

We're still waiting on the weather here in Spring.  We've only had a light rain so far.
