Oil filter: My Stucchi wrench no longer fits
« on: January 02, 2016, 11:50:44 AM »
Reached into the box o' filters to discover that one fit my wrench and the other two didn't.  Stock Guzzi part and part #.  All three from MG Cycle.

Annoying!  New item I have to order here:

Get a Talon from Bogart Engineering. Best oil filter removal tool ever. Sooner it later you'll need it. When you do, instead of hacking away, stabbing the filter with a screwdriver, looking for one of a dozen different wrenches it will remove the filter quickly without making a mess.

For removal only, not installation.

Sorry, Bogart Aviation. Here is the link.

Best stuck filter tool around. It will last forever and you can easily mod it for different filters. Tell them you have a Moto Guzzi and you'll get the right one.

Made in the USA. Worth every penny.

My first oil change on this bike you could have removed the filter with thumb and pinky.  The mighty Eldo has a hose clamp but on the Griso I just draw a line on the white filter so I can see if it moves over time.

Take your new oil filter to Walmart, Autozone, Napa, etc. and get a wrench that matches it.

Just how long have those filters been sitting on your shelf? The change happened years ago! from dim dark distant memory a 64mm HD filter spanner fits.

I need new valve cover gaskets anyway so MG will get the call.

I was hoping they would appreciate in value!  Actually I think I got the odd ones in a trade with a dealer who needed the smaller ones for a customer's bike.  I usually get them four at a time whenever I need something from MG Cycle.
