Maybe I would just buy 'Guzzi' and take a shot at running the company until all the money was gone

At USD 900 million after tax, the hell with a Moto Guzzi motorcycle - I'd hire them to bring their design sensibility to my private jet.

P.S. For those outside the US, that's the after tax value of the current US Powerball lottery, the largest lottery payout, when it happens, ever.

I think that is the pre tax lump sum payout . The 1.5 billion figure is if the winner accepts the annuity , which is figured after the interest paid on the principal over the 29 year payout .

I could probably get by, and have Galuzzi help detail my jet, either way.

I might even be able to increase my donation to the operation of Wild Guzzi.

Yeah , if only one person hits the numbers , the cash payout is going to be about 560 million bucks. Honestly , about the only extravagance for me would be a couple of newer bikes , and a certain modest house in Belle Fourche S.D. Keep enough to look after my family , give the rest away to friends and a few other entities . Don't want to be forced into making a bunch of new friends , happy to keep the ones I have .

I wouldn't have to count the money, I could hire someone to weigh it for me.
Then I would buy  a live aboard submarine, preferably with a retractable mast and a sail and equipment that could generate oxygen and drinking water from sea water.  I could be the new Captain Nemo.

Buy places in the NW, the Ozarks, the Appalachia, and the Rockies with garages and bikes at each one (and a mechanic at each one to keep the bikes ready to ride at any moment). A nice private plane or jet to get around to them in and a warbird for fun. Also throw in a self-launchiing glider.

Meh , split 3 ways , means after Fed and state taxes , lump sum of about 160 million . Then , after all of your friends and family get through , and buying  a new house , airplane , a couple of cars , 4 or 5 new bikes , and paying for a fancy vacation ...

Everything is retaliative. It's hard to know what you would spend money on until you have that money to spend.

I would sit back once figuring out how much money can be spent while still maintaining a constant lifestyle over my lifetime. It's amazing how many lotto winners are broke not long after they win.

At any rate, the 'no limits' bike budget includes Motus, Modern Norton, Modern Ariel, RSD custom of some sort (desmosedici street tracker?), and some classics. A new Guzzi would be in there of the 1400 variety. That is stupid money, so stupid bikes are included....and a race track. Yep, buy or build a race track. With a long distance shooting range.

I was forced to go to work at age 9.  I would not invest in anything that involves work or managing people.  I would tend to my health and leisure, nothing else.  What is left when I am gone, the vultures cans fight over.

Most people do not have a realistic view of money and the amount of time it takes to manage it.  I was paid good money to spend other peoples money in the past.  I spent 40 plus hours a week spending just a few million a year.

There is one big thing that is always left out of the lottery dream, time.  God is the only one that know when we will clock out.  All the money in the world will not buy you more time to live.

And yes a Moto Guzzi along with KIRBS list.  Copy Cat. At least he has good taste like me.

As far as what kind of Guzzi doings I'd have if I won that kind of money, I think I'd try having some custom things done that Guzzi will never do:

-Import a Bellagio and install a  Sport 1100 or modified 1200 8v engine, inverted forks, Ohlins shock, Classic bodywork.

-Buy two MGS-01s.  Leave one stock, and turn the other one into a streetbike with either a hotrod Sport 1100 engine or  modified 1200 8v engine.

-try putting an 850 crank into a 1400 engine to have a screaming 1100cc short-stroke monster.

Stuff like that...

I would immediately retire, buy some waterfront acreage on San Juan Island, build a nice cottage and an even nicer barn/workshop, travel, take care of my family, and ride (a lot). Oh, and I'd buy whatever motorcycles I wanted.

Hadn't thought of that, good idea. Maybe three, with one for the living room.  Have to invest that 8 bucks I won.

If I had won the big jackpot, I'd of course, invest most of the money to assure I never work a day again.

I'd buy my parents a house, and make sure their needs are always met.   I'd, of course, have to share some with siblings and inlaws, maybe $1 MM each?

I'd buy 10 acre or greater property upon which a new modest-sized house would be built, along with a 120x80' building to house toys.

I'd also need a second property somewhere warm for the winter, so, I can ride year round.

Here is some of what I'd put in my motorcycle museum (all in pristine original or restored condition, of course):

Ducati bevels: 750GT, 750 Sport, 750SS, 900SS, 450 Desmo, Mid-60's Mach I/Diana/Mk3
Ducati Paul Smart 1000LE
Honda RC30, RC45, CB77 Superhawk, CL77 305 Scrambler, CB450 Black Bomber, CB450 K1, 1979 or 1980 CBX
Moto Guzzi V7 Sport, 750S, 1000S, 1100 Sport, Daytona, Eldorado, and maybe a Guzzi or two with an exposed flywheel.
MV Agusta 750S
Laverda  750 SFC
BMW HP2 Sport, R69S, R90S, and maybe a pre-war model

Gotta have some two stroke GP bikes:
Yamaha RZ500
Suzuki RG500 Gamma
Honda NS400R

Oh, and some vintage race bikes (dustbin fairing type stuff):
Honda RC72
Honda RC165 or RC166
1960's Ducati, MV, or Morini race bike

Some early American bikes:
Indian or Henderson Four
1930's Indian Scout
Indian or Harley 19-teens board track racer
Maybe a few other obscure pre-war bikes.

Oh, and some new bikes to ride.   I've already got my V7 Special and Racer, so, probably not any new Guzzis.

2016 Triumph Thruxton R w/ the Track Racer Fairing
R1200GS
R1200RT for that big cross-country trip that I've always wanted to take
R Nine-T, just because they're ccool
Ducati 959 for track days
KTM 350EXC or similar to try out some true dual sport riding

After buying a house next to Jay Leno's,

I'd keep the V7, add a Norge, an early 70's eldo or ambassador, and buy my all time favorite bike....

The Vincent Black Shadow!   But the Vincent would just be for looking at it

... I'd ride all the Guzzi's!
