I am still trying to obtain a title for her but not having much luck in the process. I will supply a bill of sale and since it has not been registered since 1991 it is not on the DMV records anymore(and the new owner can apply for a new title).

Good luck with that.

....and started by offering $700 if it had a good title or $500 firm w/o a title.

Currently priced a little high but what you get is salvageable.  The title thing is the major no-no.  If he gets a title.........

Having no titles Depends on the state, Conn. you don't need a title if made before 1980, they also do not issue you a new one . But I have never had any problems selling a pre 80 bike, just depends on your stateruless. 2000 is high that's for sure.

I'm always put off by ads that threaten to fix it up right and sell it for more if you don't buy right away.  Also, always skeptical of those ads promising cheap and easy fixes.  If so cheap and easy, why didn't they do it?

My experience getting a MN title: A "creative story" of it's history and backup names and addresses.  Photo's of all sides of the cycle (must be assembled).  I needed to post a 3 year bond ($150 with a bonding company).  Forward three years, I applied for a title and all is well.

plus you have no idea if the drive line works.. could have been parked back in the day because the hex key rounded off in the ATF pump.. or some of them came with soft cam where the hex fit into..
or, the flimsy sheet metal flywheel sheared and that would be a big fix if you can find the heavy FW..
the driveshaft/u-joint in one assembly could also be an expensive problem  if you can even find a replacement.
so good luck to him trying to get it running and making a BIG sale then..

I've BTDT with Converts and you can hardly give away the parts for them anymore either..

I would like to have those DB bags tho..

If it isn't an cheap easy replacement part it's "carbs need cleaned" or "the carbs were professionally cleaned but need setup". If this guy really wanted to spruce up his add he should have thrown in the old standby "ran when parked"

The only way it will sell for more in the spring is if the price of scrap metal goes up.
