What's your shortest trip to buy a Guzzi?
« on: February 04, 2016, 03:43:37 PM »
I read the thread asking how far people had traveled to buy a Guzzi and the smart ass in me thought since we are talking Guzzis, most everybody has to travel to get one so what's the shortest distance you traveled to get one.

I drove about 200 miles one way to Riders Hill in Dahlonega, GA to get my Breva 1100.

I walked to the end of my driveway in Rochester, MI to wheel in the 1000 SP that Haul Bikes dropped off from the San Francisco area. For me it was a 20 yard walk. For the bike, a couple thousand miles in a lovely enclosed trailer. Do I win on a technicality?

I drove about 50 or 60 miles to pick up my 2009 V7C.

My Breva 1100 was delivered to my house by Kev M.

I paid $1,000 to have my V7R transported from San Francisco to my home in PA.

I drove about 150 miles to pick up my 2014 V7 Special.

I had a contracting job after I retired from the Army which put me in a position to buy any bike made in '95-'96 and settled on a Sport 1100.

Before I joined the Army, "Trac-Star"/"TrackStar"... whatever, was located less than 2 miles from my house. I tooled up there to look into a Goose to find them closed but hell, I was coolin' my heels between gigs down at our old house off the "Parkway" in Minneapolis so went home to try my hand at the new-to-me internets on my computer-machine.

Low and behold, they hadn't closed but rather moved - something like 10 blocks from the old 'stead in Minneapolis. Right up Cedar Avenue.

Was kinda meant to be. Ironically, I had to travel all over the metro Minneapolis area to strike others from my list:

Ducati - Doug Lofgren(sp?)... anyone remember him? Was instrumental in steering me from a 916.
Triumph - Brutal and tight looking but too "new" for me to try.
Suzuki - That re-tooled GSX-R was HOT

Some others but they don't come to mind.

Likely, not too many would travel less for a Goose.

Later, when I bought my Calvin, it was to a great extent because we owned a commercial property and had a retail concern within spittin' distance of "Ton Up" here in Phoenix. Alas, they too are gone and I may well be a harbinger of ill futures for sellers of Goose meat.

Bought a few Guzzis within a 20 mile radius, the closest an Ambassador only 9 miles away. Closest new ones were 50 miles away.

Shortest AND longest trip.  I rode my brand new '13 V7 Stone from where I purchased it, Razee Motorcycle Center in North Kingstown, RI, to my house, which is exactly 29 miles away, one fine day in May 2013.  That was the first time I'd been on a motorcycle in over 35 years.  It was a miracle that the bike and I arrived intact.  I'm not a religious person, but I often think that I must have had divine assistance that day.

You guys are just badd.

Guzzi's are meant to be coveted and strived for.

They can only be had after long, painful crusades otherwise you might just as well buy a Harley. well maybe not that

I look forward to my next, even more arduous, trip for a Guzzi.

it's all about the ride

About 14 miles from my house to MPH for the V7R.  Now the option is going up to Austin.

That just sucks.
