DY, I was just thinking of you in Barrea, today.... The Abruzzo region does get its share of wintry days, with snow above 1000 meters. Beautiful area, though; I have been considering a summer home in that area when I finally retire in a few years.

This happened in November but not much else since just a few light snows. My wife and I are a little disappointed we kinda look forward to just sitting in the sunroom watching the snow. My guess is, it's yet to come

My pleasure Dusty, I've got a fairly large collection of castles and churches in the Abruzzo region, it's a really interesting place to ride and photograph. Just to keep it Guzzi related, I met this couple in Barrea in 2012.



During the riding season, Barrea is a rider haven, they stop off here for a coffee and something to eat, dozens of them

Photo #3 reminds me of when we were in Lucca. The fountain in the town square (or "round" as the case may be) had the best water in the village, and the townspeople queued up to top up their drinking water containers.  "When in Rome, do as the Romans do', so in Lucca we did too, and yes, the water was nice.

Thanks, I don't drink water but I do sometimes here. In Barrea the tourists bring their empty bottles and fill them at the fountain in the photo. When I visited Sulmona, I was told you can't leave the city until you taste the water....it was good but I prefer the confetti...shop after shop of confetti  If I lived too close to Sulmona, I would weight 500 pounds and have few teeth.
