Vinyl Repair

Unfortunately my new to me Griso has a tear in the brown SE seat.  I contacted a local upholstery shop and he thinks he can fix it but at a cost of having to stretch both sides of the cover to make the stitching line up.  So has anyone used one of those vinyl/leather repair franchises like a Dr. Vinyl?  I haven't read many reviews and no reviews on any of the particular local franchise holders around here (there are several). 

I'd hate to mess up that seat.

Varied success but it works best if you apply a very thin patch on the underside to keep ripped or cut ends together, then apply the stuff topside. That way the patch underneath takes the stress instead of the goop.
