cheap interesting camp knife

  It is from Cold steel and called the bushman.  Unlike most of cold steels' products, this one is affordable.
 It is a no frills survival knife.  Hard carbon steel, 7 inch blade that is one piece with the handle.
 The handle is tapered tubular so that it can be affixed to a shaft to become a spear for defending yourself
from those all to common grizzly attacks.  The sheath also contains a fire starting flint stick.  The whole kit
 only costs 26 dollars plus change.  That is cheaper than most folding knives and it is big enough and strong enough to split firewood with.  A nice inexpensive tool for the camping kit even if you don' tease grizzlies.

Don't have too many grizzlies 'round these parts.  Does it work on Kias?

That is cheap for a decent blade.  I still use a 1944 KBar, and carry a folding saw in winter.  But this knife looks really nice for big knife use.  Thanks for posting.

 Yea that's the critter.  Being a cheap orientated Guzzisti, I bought mine on Amazon.com for 26 and change.
 I was surprised to see the flint stick in the sheath.  I have used such many times, they are better than matches if you get dunked in water.  Just dip a stick in your gas tank, (you do have a motorcycle when you are camping right), strike one spark and you have fire.

True story, was on a flight back from SHOT Show a few years ago and saw a very irritated Lynn Thompson get up from his seat and make his way to the back of the plane.  He offered some sorority bimbo $200 for her seat.  All her "sisters" were furiously nodding their collective heads when she looked at them for approval.  So she got up and took his old seat and he plopped down across the aisle from me.  Apparently the old coot that was sitting next to him was a little too aggressive making elbow room lol.

We chatted quite a bit, he is quite the salesman.  You also get the impression he surrounds himself with lots of adoring employees.


Gotta say I own more CS knives than any other.  I still have a Trailmaster Bowie from 1987.  That thing was sharp with its rolled edge, skinned an alligator like butter.  But I slipped once skinning a critter and sliced my tailgate on my truck and nicked the blade.  So I sent it back to them for repair/resharp, and they but a standard bevel edge on it, which was only good for chopping after that.

What shape of edge do they have from the factory?

I'm surprised keas haven't managed to smuggle themselves out to the rest of the world.  They apparently as yet have no idea.
