Plea to Categorize Swap Meet
« on: February 20, 2016, 06:14:27 AM »
First off, no secret I basically adore this board and all these hoary characters who inhabit it.  I can't imagine the work that must go into maintaining it, protecting it, and er,  :copcar: policing it too.

But here's my giant plea, request, beg even.  The Swap Meet section is now 14 pages.  Not only is that daunting to scroll through, it's almost a hassle even.  To help the board function mechanically I know the old advanced search function was dropped for Google search of the site.  That's fine and all but it makes finding things in specific threads like Swap challenging.  We can't bring back the old search function, but on the surface and to a layman, it would seem a simple fix would be to divide it into 3 simple threads:  bikes, parts, and wtb.  I'm pleading.  My knees are on the ground and burried in painful gravel, can the moderators/administrators please consider doing this?

Geez Bip , don't want much do ya ?  Actually this is beyond the capabilities of the mods to accomplish , and it might be a bit more difficult to do than appears on the surface . It always amazes me how much time the Boss puts into maintaining WG , upping his workload might be too much to ask .

If you are looking for a part or want to sell a bike or part why not just post your info in General Discussion like the majority do. It is nice to see some folks follow the rules but the majority, including some parts dealers when they get a lode of stuff, post in the General Discussion. Kudos to the ones that use the Swap Meet section to part out a bike or look for something, but why bother? At least your post would be Guzzi related!

Not so.  I've both sold and bought things on the Swap Meet section of this forum.  I would like to see it improved along the lines bpreynolds suggests.  So, there are at least two of us.

Part is parts and General discussion is such. I can see it being easier to search swap meet as being desirable...but your last comment seemed a dig at the board. There is way more going on here than just Guzzi and bikes...I personally wouldn't have it any other way...posted topics from health issues to tech questions, from trivia to trips.............. ...............It's a Mother Beautiful Board!

Everyone has the capability to remove their for sale item after it has been sold. doing so would keep the board pruned to a reasonable level .
