proposed in the Mn legislature a bill to eliminate profiling of motorcyclists.. I didn't know such a thing went on.. thought it might be worth discussing?

That's very interesting to me.  Around here it seems we get the opposite from cops.  I've come across road blocks in which the cops are checking registration, licenses, and probably sniffing for alcohol odors, and was just waved around them.

Same here....local PD and SO seem to go after the cagers, probably think by speeding all I'm gonna hurt is myself hitting a critter....never been pulled over on two wheels

     Been stopped twice in Minnesota. Both times were my own damned fault. Once for an inop daytime running light and once for an inop tail light at night so I have no complaints.

I got pulled over by a mc cop last summer, when I asked why he said he just wanted to "check my equipment" he walked around the old lemans and said "cool old bike, have fun" I felt pretty profiled as I rode away

Actually that's one good thing about 1% 'ers - lets the
Wallapers know who to concentrate on. I've only been
"Critisized" twice in the last 5 yrs for excessive enjoyment
of the potential fun provided by the black stuff.

Funny you should mention that (in jest).  I was just talking to a local Sheriff's deputy a couple days ago and asked about his car.  He said that not long ago a fellow officer was injured, and he wanted to get to him quickly.  One of the other deputies got him on radar at 162 mph.  When I brought up the subject of motorcyclists trying to outrun cops, he said that their policy is to not chase motorcycles because it ends badly for the rider so often.  They do it only if the rider presets a danger to others if let go.

4 Ga HP @ a 4 way stop in way north Ga. I asked the one checking my info if they ever do check stops in Atlanta. He smiled & said a year prior they did but were stopped because of the logjam @ booking & over filling of the city & county jails. Most people work in the rural areas & can pay their fines. Not so much either in tha ATL.

Only felt profiled one time. That was when nine of us from central Kansas were riding to to the Arkansas national rally. All on Guzzis and all wearing helmets, etc. I cannot remember the name but it was a small Missouri town. We were pulled over as a group by two patrol cars. Ran our licenses, came back and the one said, "First time we have ever pulled over a group of bikers and all of you have licenses and no warrants." They then ticketed out lead saying he lead an improper pass at an intersection.

Been pulled over a couple of times on the V7 once by Homeland Security, never on the big Stone.  No apparent motive.  Several asked about the bike, few checked documents mostly just chit chat.  Have had cops motion for me to slow down especially through some small towns.
I'm always respectful and will not argue even if I'm in the right.  I'll fight a summons in court not on the side off the road.

POP Pissin' off the police never worked out that well in my younger days.

Was I profiled?  Doesn't really matter much.

Bill was introduced a year ago and has had not as much as a first hearing... Senate version has only one author and IIRC three are required.
The bill is DOA, there's only a short session this year and with support lacking it will die without any action at the end of session.

Do it! How am I supposed to hold Royal Enfield beer/BBQ events with only one Royal Enfield. I mean I am capable of eating BBQ and downing large quantities of beer by myself but it might be fun to have someone else to talk too.

I definitely intend on making it for one of your BBQ's this year.     But, you'll be the only one with a Royal Enfield.
I'm being good and not buying for a change.     I'll ride the R75/5 or one of the V7's down, and remove one of the spark plug leads so it makes about the same power as the RE, OK?    

Or, maybe the 250 Monza (Duc) or CL175.    Either is about 20 HP, but, lighter, probably a good match for the RE.

I'm used to reading, interpreting, and following criminal statutes for the past 40 years so I think I can understand most laws. Forget about just "profiling"...this one's wording makes it sound like you cannot ever stop or arrest anyone on a motorcycle!
