I have a friend who's a sales rep. For some reason he won't ride one of his motorcycles to visit customers, but takes his car instead. I can't understand that. He could log thousands of miles per year around the southeast US, all deductible as vehicle expenses, but doesn't.
Sort of...Yesterday, I had to travel to Eugene and back for work. As it was a beautiful day, I decided to ride my Norge rather than drive. Afterwards, it occurred to me that, since I was paid for my travel time, I got paid to ride! How awesome is that?
Felt like a whore afterwards. (they get paid to have fun)
Absolutely understand the reality of this.It is ironic that the "rustic" is seemingly more sophisticated in his(or hers) acceptance of "difference" and yet the apparently more educated cannot allow him/herself the same view. I am in the UK and Motorcyclists are commonly described as Bikers regardless of what they are riding or wearing because it is ingrained that it is a lower class activity / mode of transport despite the fact that this no longer applies. Things may be a little better as its been some time since I was asked to remove my bike jacket in a pub( I removed myself from the premises after a quiet word with that particular arse..) I have travelled a little on the Continent and just not felt the same attitude even when checking into decent Hotels late at night after a long day riding and always had a positive welcome so I don't think its me giving off the wrong vibes.I think that the media just perpetuates the stereotype as portrayed in film because it suits there own agenda .
