Usually I get, "how come you don't have a Harley"  my standard answer is ,   "because I did once"

A guy asked me if Ferrari made my Guzzi.I said "how did you know that".You always get a lot of "nice bike"

I did have a friend who owned a Suzuki Boulevard misread "Moto Guzzi" on the valve cover on my Mille the first time he saw it, and ask "Maserati?"  I assume he didn't have his reading glasses with him.  He's a retired diesel mechanic, and chose the particular model of his Boulevard because he liked the sound of "oil cooled".

I think the top three have been mentioned several times....but the most memorable comment I've had...I was parked downtown... just coming up the block from about 300 ft. away and could see this guy standing beside my bike looking intently...not really moving...just sort of staring...I approach and say "Hi" ....he's got this great big smile on his face...looks up and says "Someone's living right" and walks away. He too had that look in his eyes.

"Is that Chinese?"

Delrod and I met at a truck stop on the way to JN Smyth's funeral last June . A younger couple walked by our bikes and we overheard the guy say to his lady friend , "Don't know , Chinese maybe ??"

What makes you think they were referring to the bikes? (I planned to end with the grin icon but it wouldn't work)

From people who don't know what it is (nearly everyone), "Beautiful"

From other riders: silence with that look on their face that says they want to ask but don't want to in front of everyone else.

I got a few drive-by compliments, a couple of thumbs-up  :thumb:, several polite inquiries from first timers and even one.....

Today I rode my `77 Guzzi Convert. to get some stuff from our nearest Sam's Club.  As I was getting ready to ride off a well proportioned female customer said, "you sure know how to pack those saddlebags".  I laughed and said "I have to."  Not sure she noticed I was on a Guzzi, but I like scoping her out.

With a lead-in like that, you could have said something much more raunchy...

Then again, I think you (like me) may be approaching the age when we get excited, but can't remember why!

Without any more raunchiness than her comment:  "Yes, I've been forced to learn to fit big things in small spaces."

Maybe she wasn't talking about the bike.
