Digital Snapshot Camera Suggestions

Funny, I kinda feel the same way.  Friends who like to make videos of their rides don't understand why I don't do the same.  I find that it changes the feel of a ride completely when I try to document it by stills or video.  I do like to take an occasional photo when something particularly interesting comes up.

I've seen people so into documenting some event by way of photos and vids that they are only half present for that event. Some of them with phones are photoing and sending texts and nearly oblivious to the wonders around them.

I also find that I rarely look a third time at photos I have taken. Still, every now and again something is so full of beauty and wonder that I would like a reminder of it and perhaps be able to share it with others. At the moment, my camera is my good old Mk I Mod 0s. Still, as I approach having a motorcycle I do wonder if some sort of device may be a good idea.

i carry a Panasonic DMC FP8, 12mp camera.
I like cause the battery lasts a long time, starts up fast, and can be worked with one hand.

doubt it takes pics any better than an Iphone, but it is easier to handle and faster.  Its old, takes decent pics and video with sound.

you might want to look into refurbished cameras, Canon usually has several in their online store.  most are discounted quite a bit

I pack a Nikon D4 along with a few lenses, not your average point & shoot guy, wouldn't recommend this but I'm a photog. Haven't found a convenient place to carry my tripod yet

One more question, probably very stupid but this highlights my concern/complaint regarding Nikon camera naming system. I  assume the AW120 stands for All Weather (?) but what does the 130 imply?

i think it is just a model number.  They started with 100.  Heck of a nice shirt pocket camera.

Another vote for the Fuji Finepix. I used an XP10 - ruggedised & waterproof - until it suffered a mishap. It was in the tankbag when I had the rear tyre blowout, but the tankbag came off - the stitching tore, leaving the tank bra with its magnets firmly affixed to the bike - but in the bag's journey down the road the camera fell out and skittered down the bitumen. Other than some scratches, the camera was fine & everything worked, except that one of the scratches was in the lens. it took great pictures, but I never got around to having the lens looked at, as I would always have preferred a through-the-lens viewfinder. Still making do with smartphones some three years later.
