But I'm curious. I noticed on Giusto's spring thaw ride that his single front brake rotor is on the port side, and on my Jackal it's on the starboard side. Wondering if this is just a function of Luigi being fickle? Is it consistent within model years?

Mine's a 2000, giusto's ride is a 2001...is it that simple? BPreynolds old 2004 Stone is still listed at C&D, and the single rotor on that is also on the port side.

What's the story? Inquiring minds and all that....

So right side is wrong? or just "vintage correct"...

My 00 Jackal was starboard too.

My guess was always different batches of parts from suppliers in different years.

Or maybe in 00 they bought them in pairs, used starboard in 00 and port in 01 until they were gone then purchased again.

My thought is that they bought them in pairs, because the EV and Bassa/Special had dual disks in the front.

On the single brake Jackal, they simply used one side for one year, and the other side for the next.

The fork sliders had the bosses on both sides, so this was an easy way to get rid of the inventory.

Different story, since the V7/V9 only have caliper mounting bosses on the left fork slider.

Business in action - what can be used must be used. Materials contracted for or already stocked must be consumed or scrapped.

Talk is cheap, grappa costs money.

At least they have bikes to put these things on. In the computer world I work in sheet metal goes obsolete pretty damn fast. COTS components may become unfashionable as better ones come along.
