Nah.  The Beatles were a rockabilly band inspired by the likes of Buddy Holly.  Their early recordings '60-'62 are badass rock & roll.  and the final lineup of John Paul George and Ringo comprised some seriously talented singers/songwriters/musicians.

Herman's Hermits?  Bubblegum pop with a couple of hits in the mid-60s.

Talented guy who had a huge influence on the band, and expanded their repertoire, but I'm quite sure The Beatles would've been a thing without him.  They'd have been a different thing, yes.  But there was a lot of talent wrapped up in those four guys.

My meaning wasn't that The Beatles weren't going to make it.  They were talented and driven guys that would've been big artists.

But without Geo Martin, likely no Ringo or strings on Yesterday, Tomorrow Never Knows, Sgt Pepper, et al.
