I suggest that you use it.
I have3 large rolls from a friend at DOT.
the reflective wheel tape sold for sports bike's works well

The stuff they sell at autoparts stores these days doesn't seem nearly as bright/reflective as the stuff I get from Aerostich.

I've been using the stuff on my helmets and some subtle placements on hard saddlebags for more than a decade now.

I use SOLAS grade stuff.  I've got some on the helmet, tail bag, forks and swingarm.

3M has some neat stuff that looks black until headlights hit it a night, and then it lights up nicely.  It can be good to put in places that would otherwise look bad with other colors on them, like frame tubes, for example.
