Damn seat stuck
« on: March 13, 2016, 01:39:39 PM »
Howdy all, it's been awhile.

I need to change my battery on my Cal Spec. Went out to the garage to get the seat off and it's stuck. I've checked the little locking lever that drops down when you turn the key down by the linkage. That seems to work. I'm think it's just not releasing under the seat. I ham fisted the front of the seat up so I can kind of get access to the rear of the seat. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Try pushing down on the seat when you turn the key.  My Bassa was finicky that way after installation of a Corbin, which was fantastic, BTW.

The actual seat release is a small loop behind what you are probably pulling down , which is an oddly placed helmet lock .

That did it! Thanks Dusty. It's probably been 5 years since I've had to do that and I had forgotten. I was really hoping my memory would make it into my 50s.

What we need is a good "what kind of battery oil do you guys recommend" thread

The seat release thing is a common issue , don't feel bad .

my guess is that you have a lot of "stuff" stored under your seat.

first, make sure you've pushed the "tang" down on the lock cable.  then push the seat down.
