By the look on his face, he looks pissed off for sure!  Bad day?  He sure used poor judgement.

What a tool!

Is Texas one of those states where they get quite testy over not clearing the lane for emergency vehicles?

Still, what an "all about me" tool.

nevermind.

They just announced yesterday the Phoenix will accept individuals guilty of or admitting to the abuse of several prescription drugs.

These days, really gotta be tough to get fellas to put on that uniform with all the socially correct encumbrances that it implies. Being very close to two cop retirees, they have the same attitude I had before putting in my paperwork in the Army. Better get while the gettin's good... before ya get got!

the police / public interaction is interesting.  first off, there is a bit of psychological profiling.  everyone knows a kid from high school who got picked on,  or even better, was a bit of a juvenile delinquent and became a cop.  its the badge the authority, the gun.  the mustache.  but the downward spiral is what we've achieved lately.  there's been a lot, too many,  high profile incidents where the police have used questionable deadly force.  this in turn creates an agitated response towards the police, and they take this to be aggression...  and the cycle keeps on going.

for this particular incident.  its pissing in the wind.  but what it comes down to is liability.  what if one of those bikers got a snootful and crashed and died.  oops.  thats money.

Too, how about that pickup which is about to drive through that green cloud?  what'd that lout do to get this?

Yikes.

On the one hand, it's unfortunate that we live in a time and society where one big mistake can be easily captured on film then broadcasted throughout the world; instantly making you and your mistake infamous.

On the other hand, what an idiot. Seriously. That's idiot level behavior right there.

He really ought not to be wearing a badge.

I guess that cop is a seasoning veteran.  He needs to stand in the unemployment line, maybe after getting a face full of pepper spray.

The move over law referred to in all 50 states I've never heard of.  If I think I might be in the cops way I move over, but since I don't ride 2 wide or in a group, something like this never comes up.

In NJ it's move over if practical to do so, if not, reduce speed. All in all it's worded kind of ambiguous.

Show him the video, ask do you want to stick around for prosecution or would you like to resign.....

It takes one asshole to offset all the good....

On the other side, young Officer Taylor was struck and killed the other day, True, Blue and Gold....

This was sent in by one of the people he had contact with a while back:

In Honor of CHP Officer Nathan Taylor -
I knew Nathan for about 45 minutes. Two weeks ago I was hitch-hiking at Donner Summit after a failed backcountry ski trip. Nathans CHP cruiser rolled up and I thought Here we go, Im about to get harassed by the cops.
Nathan rolled down the window and asked if I was all right. I leaned in and told him I was ok, and gave him my story. He asked if I wanted a ride, and I gladly accepted.
In the next 45 minutes we talked, laughed and shared stories. He told me about his wife and kids, his time working in San Jose, and how he loved working up in the mountains away from the city. When he dropped me off, he gave me his personal phone number and told me to call him at 6:30 if I hadnt gotten a ride - he would pick me up after he got off work and drive me to family in Sacramento. I texted him later in the day to tell him that I had been picked up and thank him. He texted back Alls well that ends well. Glad you made it.
Nathan Taylor was a good man. He was kind, and giving, and he wanted to help. He challenged my prejudice against the police. He inspired me to be a better man.
I have found myself thinking about how I could repay his kindness in the last couple of weeks. About bringing him a 6 pack of beer, or writing the CHP to commend him. I thought about looking him up when I was in the area and offering to buy him dinner. I thought about becoming his friend.
And then I read in the newspaper today that he had been killed on duty this weekend - hit by a car while investigating another accident. And I was, I am, crushed. Buying him a 6 pack or dinner seems so small in scope now. I am sharing this in an effort to broaden that scope. To repay him by inspiring others to be good.
Be a good person. Be kind to strangers. Go out of your way to help them when you can. The time for this is now, not later. Later may never come. The measure of your life is your impact on other people. Make it count.
You made a difference, Nathan. Thank you.

Sometimes things just don't make any sense on either side of the table....
