Congrats on saving the old flag.  Seems like change for no real reason and a waste of money.  Wouldn't happen with our State flag.  The Union Jack is staying.  The flag is from the Kingdom of Hawaii.  No change in that.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Hawaii

You learn something new every day. I always assumed Hawaii would have the stars and stripes. I bet Obama loves seeing that when he arrives.

That's great. History should be reflected in a flag.

I too am happy that the flag was not changed. I would have been happy if they had just put a silver fern in the place where the Ozzies have an extra star. (Would help to differentiate the flags).

I am more than happy with the Westminster style of government that history has given us.
